With LO1, I worked at a small (7 staff member) pre-k center. I told my boss at like 5 weeks because we were close and she knew about my previous miscarriage. I was going to need time off for blood work and appts at the beginning and I felt comfortable telling her. I also told most of my co-workers soon after because 2 more ladies were due in the same month as me! It was fun :)

With LO2, I was working at the same elementary school as my husband. I had JUST started the week before I got my BFP (DH had been there several years), so I wanted to wait awhile, especially because it was a much bigger school than my previous one. After the NT scan, I let DH spread the news (it almost killed him to wait that long!).

I am in the same situation since I switched schools this year. I am very shy and hate announcements, plus the whole school doesn't know me! I just told my team before thanksgiving (at 18.5 weeks) and I figure I will let everyone else just figure it out.

Do you have a team you work with? For me, I work with a small group of teachers primarily who teach the same grade I do. I plan on telling them after the new year during lunch or a meeting. Something very informal. For the rest of my co-workers, I plan to just let them ask me and I'll confirm. I do plan to tell my principal as well.

@Happygal: Thank you! One male teacher did ask me and I straight out lied, I was so caught off guard I didn't know what else to say.

ETA: I've thought about getting my principal to do the deed actually! I'm sure she'd be happy to do just that.

@Autumnmama79: I work at different schools and while I'm friendly with staff, there's no one I'm close to either. I didn't announce--just let them approach me about it. Most people waited until it was really obvious.

And congrats to you!

ETA: if waiting for people to approach you is unappealing, maybe you can talk to the principal and have her share at your faculty meeting. We have weekly meetings in our schools. Your principal could bring it up by saying, "Mrs. Autumnmama79 will be expecting on this date and we have begun looking for her subtitute" (if it's during the school year).

I'm not sure how to do this and I'm hoping for some ideas! I've withheld telling for a long time bc we had two losses this past year and I've really wanted to keep this close to my heart. Also, I'm not close with anyone on staff and I'm a private person in general.

However, people are giving me knowing glances and smiles and the bump is showing and I think its fairly obvious... I feel so awkward telling people and I'm not sure how to do this!
