I prefer and enjoy it. The kids and I get a break to regroup, reflect (and escape) at the end of every quarter. A few weeks off every break with over a month in the winter is really nice to keep things fresh. Personally, I think I would tend to get bored and/or 'forget everything' with longer traditional breaks. I'm another one who loves back to school time, and I'm feeling pretty ready to be back into a workday routine (even if teaching can be super hard).</p> <p>@rahlyrah I'm starting my second full year (I was a long-term sub for part of another year), and I would echo what others have said. Build positive relationships with support staff and parents; get to know the guidance counselors, nurse, school psychologist, etc. Find a mentor who you trust (this may or may not be a school-assigned mentor) so that you have someone to go to when questions arrive. Don't ever be afraid to ask for help if you need it. OVER PLAN. You're better off ditching activities than scrambling on the spot. Good luck! My first year was really hard, but really rewarding.
