@Mrsbells: Agreed! As a former teacher, everyone most appreciated cash (or GCs). There are tons of places for teachers to receive free donations like board games. Go with the full GC. Bake some cookies or something if you want to bring an item too.

I personally dont see games for the class as a gift for him. Maybe he felt he had to put something like that down ? I would give him a $50 gift card. He can buy the games himself of he wants and then he gets the tax deduction for that

@cake2017: @looch: thanks -I'll do a larger GC with 1 game

@DesertDreams88: thanks - I had a few parents ask the kids what they wanted and got several requests for Apples to Apples Jr so I will get that (ages 9-10)

A tangential reply but in case you want game recommendations from a teacher...

Uno and Jenga can be played with large and small groups, essentially everyone knows the rules, no small parts to lose, and they works at all ages.

Go fish and geography puzzles are similar except for the all ages part.

Bananagrams, Appletters, and Pairsinpears are all literacy games that have also been loved by my elementary students but the directions need to be explained.

I have heard good things about Hi Ho Cherry-O, which is more of a basic math skills game if I remember correctly.

I realize that none of these are specifically *board* games, but just games.

I like the idea of giving one board game and a gift card. It looks nicer that way.

I like the idea of giving him a gift card with a larger balance. Use a little of the money to buy an actual board game they don’t have and wrap it?

I am the Homeroom parent for DS class this year - I collected money from each family at the start and use that for gifts throughout the year. For Holidays I have $50 to spend.

I had him fill out a form at the start of the year so I know want he wants (Amazon gift cards) but he also requested board games for the classroom.

So, $50 gift card for him OR $25 gift card for him and $25 worth of board games?
