Not everyone is into silver jewelry. the giftcard is better. However just keep in mind not everyone has an amazon account either. I would usually buy a giftcard that can be used in a store like a local grocery place or a dunkin donuts

@looch: yes, same here! I have definitely felt that at Christmastime....I would rather look for something on sale that used to be 20 for 10 than give someone 10.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: I don't know, I'm a teacher and I think the bracelet is a lovely idea! But my kiddo goes to a public pre-k, where teachers are degreed and making a real salary. So I think they would appreciate anything you gave as a thanks--I know I do! Sometimes the more personal gifts are the most special ones.

I had a student give me a set of dessert plates one year and you know what? I still have them almost 10 years later. And I still think of that kiddo when we use them--he was a favorite.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: I think a lot of people do gifts because there is no obvious cash value attached to it and they're embarrassed that they can't provide a cash gift that is of "enough" value. I would rather get a $5 gift card over a $5 candle, but a lot of people feel that's not enough and they're embarrassed. They shouldn't be though!

Jewellery is such a personal taste thing, I'd be wary of it. I would do a gift card, and have your son make a card to put it in so he's involved.

I love the bracelet idea. It sounds sweet and your child is probably old enough to enjoy giving the gift. I voted to reflect this (I'm a teacher).
That being said, I just gave my daycare provider a gc on Friday for provider's day. I'm sure it was the more practical idea, but my son is just getting old enough to enjoy gift giving (I realized this as he was so proud of his Mother's Day gift) that I wish I would of incorporated him more into the gift giving.
All ideas sound awesome and would be appreciated!

@Mrs. Sketchbook: Yep. That's our thought process. We know our teachers aren't paid very well and while I know they might love something like pretty jewelry I would hate for them to be thinking "this bracelet is lovely but I'm struggling to buy diapers for my child". Yesterday we gave the gift cards with a heartfelt note from my husband and me telling each of our children's teachers how much we appreciate their loving care. On Friday we are bringing their favorite candy and notes/pictures made by the children.

@Truth Bombs: I know if I were a teacher I would prefer the visa/amazon route. I think it is sometimes hard for the gifter to accept this! There's always the desire to personalize a gift for the giver! But I know at least one of the teachers is a single mom, so a little extra spending money for herself would be appreciated I am assuming.

GC- keep it easy on yourself and them. I'd probably want Amazon, but not everyone shops online.

Next year I'm bringing in GC and flowers.

Husband and I settled on a 30 dollar gift for each of my son's two pre k teachers. We've really had a great year at his school. The classrooms are named after different inspirational themes. I was considering just a Target or Amazon GC, but I also ran across a sterling charm bracelet online that has their classroom theme as a charm. Or I could do a GC to a local jewelry place. Which would you prefer?

EDIT: I didn't find the bracelets at the local place. Sorry for any confusion! But there's a place in my town that sells similar type stuff.
