I did it in high school. We created and sold tank tops that said Miami Rice (with a rice bag pic with Miami Vice sunglasses). We packed it in a bento box. I have no idea how much we sold but being involved in the process was an eye opener to business. Not only did the experience keep me finance minded, it helped me when I was a young adult because I wanted to fundraise to buy a volleyball net for our church. So I enlisted help to design a shirt, print and sell for our net! :) Totally want to give back and provide this experience for kids. The first was with second graders, who were awesome. The second was with high schoolers, and while I was happy to do it (it was a school in a tough/underprivileged area, and I thought the kids actually stood to benefit and learn something), a lot of the kids were pretty rude and nasty. Parents will come in to talk about different subjects they are experts in, but will also arrange for outside speakers to come in as well. It's all part of a greater program they will follow all the way through high school. I had my first class yesterday and it is so much fun! The kindergartens are so sweet and attentive, I was so nervous but it is such a fun age! </p> <p>Does anyone else volunteer at their local school or does their student's school offer outside programs come in? </p>
