I am going to have to try the roller coaster move! My LO absolutely refuses to roll from front to back, even though I have a sneaking suspicion he is completely capable and is just refusing to spite me ;)

@Emsmems: sorry I missed this! She *can* roll front to back, but I think she chooses not to when I'm around, haha. I've seen her so it several times in the crib! But never while I'm in the room. Little stinker.

@Bubbles: so I had this problem as well, and I did the "roller coaster" as you suggested! It may be coincidence, it may be the move, but a few days later DS is rolling front to back! Thanks for that suggestion!

Any luck yet @abbydabbydoodlebug:?

I was taught a technique at a baby yoga class to help LOs learn to roll over! They called it the rollercoaster, and my DS started rolling front to back a few days after we first tried it (could be coincidence of course and he still can't go the other way!). Basically you sit on the floor with legs straight out in front, and place LO sideways across your lap with head hanging over (presuming they've got good head control). Then you use your hands on their body to roll them over and over down your legs and then back up again. It's important to roll them by their body rather than by their arms, as I think the idea is that their arms naturally fall into the right places for rolling and so they learn what to do with them.

Worth a try!

I taught DD to roll front to back by putting my boob just out of reach, she was EBF. Kind of like a horse and carrot.

So DD started rolling back to front this week and unfortunately it coincided with me wanting to start sleep training. I've since become a cio dropout, lol. Partly because she'll roll onto her front and get stuck. Sometimes on the edge on the crib with her arm through the bars. I can see sometimes she will be trying to roll back over but her arms are in airplane position and can't roll over even though she's pushing really hard to try to get back over. Is there a way to try to teach her to roll over? I've tried using a toy over her head, but that doesn't seem to work. She'll lay there on her tummy until she face plants. Sigh.

I'm thinking about getting those mesh bumpers to help with her arm going through the bars.
