I wasn’t team green with any of mine, but I would have only figured it out with one of mine. My 2nd boy gave a few good shots that couldn’t be missed.

We were Team Green and she had us look away. At one point during the scan, though we definitely I had a between the legs shot. It was definitely an accident and she didn’t point it out, but of course I noticed. I really thought it was a girl because I didn’t see anything. When baby came out though, he was definitely all boy!!

We were never team green, but by the time we were pregnant with our third girl, we were both relatively certain (and correct) about what we were seeing (three lines) at our elective scan to determine the sex. To be fair, though, I had an ultrasound every visit with my first two pregnancies, so we’ve probably looked at more than your average non-OB/non-ultrasound tech.

Our tech for that scan also confirmed what @MrsRoo: said about the cord...she had me rolling all around to get DD3 to move because her cord was between her legs and she wanted to be sure of what she was seeing.

Team green twice, our normal tech told us to look away but at a subsequent scan to check on the kidneys, the new tech forgot to tell us not to look.

"I'm so sorry, did you see anything?!"
"Uh, yeah, sure I saw something, but I have no idea what I saw, so we're good!"

One tech wrote it down on our file, my second did not. So my first doctor kept joking around about accidentally telling us. The second one just kept guessing what it would be based on behavior at each appt.

@LindsayInNY: You never know! I am sometimes surprised by my patients who have good ultrasound eyes and can see what I'm pointing out to them - maybe you are one of those people who are good at seeing fetal anatomy on ultrasounds!

@LindsayInNY: we weren’t TG but wanted to wait and find out the news with our son after the AS so had the sonographer put it in an envelope. She had us look away and sealed the envelope without us knowing at all. They’re total pros, and do it all the time! She warned us they use male pronouns as a standard so kept saying “he/him.” I’m holding my little girl so proof that she was poker-faced and professional!

@MrsRoo: I asked the US tech after if she doesn't do it for people like us and she said no, she still does, but this isn't her first rodeo so she's sneaky about it! LOL. Although, TBH, we did the genetic testing so that right there confirmed it and eliminated a need to check (I would think). I wonder if I imagined seeing things or really don't know what I was even seeing!

US tech here, if a patient tells me they don't want to know, I don't even look at the sex (unless it looks like theres a medical need to). But I will usually tell mom and fam to look away while I'm scanning in the general area.
Haven't ever been team green, but I love living vicariously through the moms that I scan and imagining a delivery room surprise! So fun!

@LindsayInNY: sometimes cord between the legs can fake people out and look like the 3 lines of girl parts. :silly:

For both my kids they told us to look away and we did and in subsequent scans I think they told me to look away, but at a certain point the baby was too big and it would have been hard to see. Also, I’m really bad at interpreting ultrasounds so I probably wouldn’t have been able to tell!

Team green with our first and I think she told us to look away? We found out with our second and even staring right at it I had no idea what I was looking at or for. But I had two girls, so possibly it’s more obvious when it’s a boy.

We were Team Green both times, and both times once we told the tech that we didn’t want to know she didn’t even really go to look in the area. I couldn’t tell what anything was anyway unless she pointed it out. She made sure not to record the gender on my chart so there was no way of anyone slipping up for the rest of my pregnancy, which I appreciated.

I’ve been team green twice now. Both times they gave us the option to look away, and we did. The first time I thought why made a mistake and forgot to tell me to look away for a portion, bu it was wrong in what it made me think. This time the doctor told me he wasn’t even going to look, he might be able to tell or might not, but it’s not a critical part that hey look for to make sure everything is ok unless parents want to know. They do have to look at the kidneys which is when it might be visible. But st 20 weeks I think most laymen wouldn’t be able to tell anyway, honestly. I know I wouldn’t!

The tech turned off the big screen tv when she got to the genitals. As for the 10 or 11 additional scans I had for complications, sometimes the tech would say to look away and sometimes he wasn't in a position to let us see anyways. I did think I saw a penis at my 38 week scan, but wasn't sure... Well I was right :P

We are Team Green for the second time. At both anatomy scans the tech told us to look away but I had some additional ultrasounds later in my first pregnancy where I watched the screen but still couldn't tell.

My Dad was in the room for our most recent ultrasound (we had an extra one due to the baby not cooperating) and he watched the screen even when the tech said to look away and couldn't see anything.

If you were team green, did the tech have you look away at the anatomy scan? Do it without telling you? Did you look? And, if so, did you think you could tell and we’re you right or not?

So many questions :)

Just left mine. She checked without telling us. I assumed she’d tell us to look away so I watched everything. Thought maybe I saw girl but who knows if I even looked at the right area.
