We are team green and I think I saw the gender, but I can't be positive. The u/s tech put the wand on and the very first shot was the toilet shot. I knew right away what I was looking at, and I didn't see a penis. However, that doesn't tell me for sure it's a girl because it was quick (she asked if we wanted to know then moved the wand). Maybe if I'd seen a penis, I'd be more positive. Not sure. Either way, tell the tech before you start (we didn't) and don't look until she tells you it's okay to- you never know if the very first shot will be the baby showing you its goods!

I was Team Green for my 2nd and this worried me too, but I lucked out with an awesome u/s tech who made sure not to ruin anything for me. After the scan too, even doctors I'd meet for the first time would ask me firstoff if I wanted to know or not so as not to accidentally spill. I was just so lucky my medical team was so on top of that topic! I hope it will be the same for you! It was an awesome experience finding out at birth :)

We were team green and we told the tech every time before anything was started. There were only a few times that she asked us to look away before going over that area just in case. I read all about looking for lines, etc but even if I caught a glance I don't know I would have been able to tell boy/girl.

I was team green and they told me when they were getting to that part and to look away. Also they never wrote it in the chart so I didn't have to worry about any of the provider's slipping up either.

Since we were Team Green, we told them and they never told us. I also didn't know what to look for though.lol

@artbee: I will definitely try to make sure they let me know when they are past the pelvic area. In my friends case, she actually saw the little penis sticking up when the tech was showing her something to do with the cord base.

i agree with artbee - just have them tell you to turn away. i was going to say that i couldn't even tell with the boy parts, but since you're pretty familiar with it....

@MsMini: Maybe you can ask your ultrasound tech to tell you when they're getting to the gender part so you can turn away. If you don't mind missing part of it. I think it would be worth it though to get the surprise in the end!

@artbee: I do have some ultrasound reading skills, I work in NICU, and I take babies down to ultrasound all the time for imaging, and ask the techs to point out things to me, so I have gotten really good at seeing what they are looking at. At my 15 week ultrasound on my OB's office, I had a lot of fun pointing out things I could see in her images, and she pointed out things I missed.

I wasn't team green for my first, but we're planning to be for our next one. We could barely tell what anything was, it was just one big blob to me. Maybe if I had the 3D ultrasound, or if I had any ultrasound reading skills I'd be worried... but I think as long as you let them know that you don't want to know you should be fine.

I am team green, and me and DH have always wanted to be team green, even before TTC.

We have our anatomy scan on December 14th, and I am so scared I will accidentally see the gender, or that someone will slip up and accidentally refer to the babies gender and ruin the surprise for me.

It doesn't help that my co-worker was also team green, and she saw the babies gender inadvertently during the ultrasound. She said it sucked big time. So now I am scared that will happen to me too.

I will definitely make sure the ultrasound tech knows I do not want to know the gender, and I will let my OB know at my next appointment as well, but it still worries me, even if I can't do much other than that to control it.

Any other team green ladies feel the same way?
