I used walk away from my mother when she made me really mad. That's how I saw it anyway. She probably would have described it as disappearing. If we were shopping I would "walk away" without so much as a word while she was in the dressing room. Driving somewhere? I would get out of the car at a red light. I would show up at home hours later and act like nothing happened. She must have worried so much. I know doing that took much more of a toll on her than any fight we ever had.
