FWIW, we co-bed recently to get through jet lag (it sounds like a similar effect on my baby, who is normally a good sleeper), and once she was beginning to get over it (2 nights) she went back to her crib. We hadn't co-bed since week 1, when she was waking up constantly (before my milk came in).

It didn't seem to create bad habits. Your LO won't forget her self-soothing skills, she's just in a place where she needs a little help right now. And you need some sleep!

@shopaholic: This is exactly what we're going through at 12 months! Flu (and other) shots on monday, fever wednesday, now getting a molar and not sleeping. So sorry you're going through this too :(

@autumnlove: M just started chewing her crib rails with this molar! Don't want to thread-jack but would you post on my wall if you have any magical solutions? I'm assuming it's something we have to just get through.

Teething never affected LO's sleep but she started chewing her crib around 20 months when some of her molars came in.

I hope things improve soon for your LO! Hugs!

Teething hit R really bad when she got in her first two teeth. She was waking up every 3 hours (or less). After she would nurse she would just thrash back and forth while rocking her cause she was just so uncomfortable and hurting. It sucked. Then she wasn't 6 months so all I could give her was Tylenol even though she didn't have a fever. I wouldn't give it to her unless she was really uncomfortable.

She is working on a top tooth/teeth (so far only see the one) and she has been crying out in her sleep but going back to bed. I am not sure if it is cause we sleep trained after the last two or maybe they don't hurt as much. This time we are having more spit up then anything as a side effect.

Hugs!! I hope her teeth break though soon!

@shopaholic: My LO hit a major regression at six months as well as cutting six new teeth and I don't think we would have survived without bed-sharing.

We're now at twelve months and still bed-sharing on occasion but Miss A is starting to spend more nights in her bed than mine :-)

Go with what your gut is telling you, babies go through heaps of developmental stuff between six and twelve months old and sometimes they just need the comfort of mum!

@shopaholic: wow I could have written this exact post. I'm sitting here nursing lo. She hasn't slept more than an hour in a row tonight :-( She's always been an awesome sleeper so this is really thrown me for a loop. She's 8 months and her first tooth has broken through a tiny bit but her gums are really swollen in other places. She wakes up crying like, 5 times a night and goes insane if my husband goes in. It has to be me and if I pick her up she'll relax on me right away. I obviously have no advice but at least I know it's not totally crazy if you're going through it too :-/ Im just not comfortable co-sleeping but I'm going on 5 nights with basically no sleep. If I don't hold her or nurse her she will not calm down on her own :-(

R's sleep isn't that bad, but teething hits us. She has four top teeth coming in and her night sleep is no good.

Talk to me about teething and sleep?

K's nighttime sleep has always been pretty good. But the past 4 nights have been crazy! It's like we have a newborn all over again! At first, we thought it was from her Flu shot and her first (mild) fever. Well, the fever is gone but the wake ups every 30-40 min. have gotten worse! We've given Motrin for teething every night, except tonight. I'm still holding out...

I can see the white buds underneath. But she is literally waking up less than an hour apart crying so hard. She falls back asleep almost immediately once I hold her. And it has to be me - she won't fall back asleep for DH. Until I finally give in out of exhaustion and bring her to our bed so she can sleep next to me. She will still cry at least once an hour, but goes back to sleep pretty easily.

Is this really from teething? Is this normal? Even with Tylenol/Motrin? I am giving her Camilia Boiron too. Is there such a thing as a 7 month sleep regression? The wake-ups are becoming more frequent.

I'm worried I'm fostering bad habits and she'll expect to be held to sleep or sleep with us. Between this and the naps, I feel like we're taking leaps backwards in the sleep department.
