It may be an old wives' tale, but a couple weeks ago daycare sent my DD home with a 102 fever and pinkeye. We got drops for her eyes, but the doctor said she was otherwise healthy. The next day, she popped two new teeth through. Coincidence? Maybe. All I know is that once the teeth were through, she was totally fine.

FWIW, my son teethed very late and for the first 4 teeth he had low grade fevers. I would give him Tylenol for the fever/discomfort and the fevers always went away quickly (so probably not a virus since there were no other symptoms).

Fever got to 103.2, and we decided to treat with Motrin. She's comfy and sleeping now. Ughhhhh!!! Please tell me this is normal when starting daycare, and that after a certain time, she'll be immune?!?!? So hard to see her getting fevers every other week. :(

@hilsy85: @littlejoy: I've read the same thing re: wives tale, and my doc said that if baby has a fever and is teething, it's probably a coincidence and baby also has a virus. There's no medical reason for a fever during teething.
(But I also read that many people swear it's true, so....who the heck knows :-) )

@hilsy85: I don't even know why we pay for daycare. At this rate, she'll miss more days than she goes!! ;)

Pretty sure it's an OWT that teething causes fevers above 100.4...sounds like she has another virus :( Hope she feels better soon!

When do you decide LO has a teething fever vs. a fever from illness. LO is on antibiotics now for a double ear infection (last dose is today). She just spiked a 101.3 fever. She's been actively teething for a few weeks, so I'm just at a loss as far as guessing what this is. :(
