It doesn't actually numb anything. I think it's marketing at work. People are used to gel - we'll give them gel, even it contains the same ingredient (chamomile) as the tablets. It numbs their gums but if it gets down into their throat it can affect breathing. A friend gave me a half-used tube of Baby Orajel "Natural" and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to use it. I tried to put it on her (future) teeth with my finger, while my husband held her down, but she just moved her tongue and her mouth so much I am sure it didn't do anything! Is there some secret to applying this stuff? </p>
