It sounds like teething to me but I would skip the carrots till he feels better. Teething is rough!

I would skip solids today and see if he acts better. If not then you know it is teething.

Poor baby, hope he feels better soon! It could be the carrots. So far my LO has had the strangest reactions to some of my fave foods. Each time I stop solids for a couple days. 1st reaction at 5.5 months was breaking out in hives after eating mashed avocados. Then last week (6.5 months) rash like bumps around her mouth and chin appeared after eating Gerber's sweet potato purée. I am going to make my own mashed up sweet potato and see if it was a fluke. Food allergies are so tough for babies!

If it was me I wouldn't do any solids today. When my LO seems like she might have a belly ache, I just don't give her any and let it sort itself out. They don't actually need the solids at that age, so it gives them a chance to rest.

It does sound like maybe the carrots were a bit much for him? I don't know. When we gave eggs sometime in the 6th month she threw up, but it was several hours later. The dr, said it was unlikely to be an actual allergy, and more likely just that it was too much for her immature digestive system. Said to try again in a month or so.

Last night was rough. Really, really rough. B was up every hour on the hour screaming. We have never had a night like that before. At first I assumed it was from teething (one of his top teeth are about to break through) but he didn't react nearly this bad when he cut his two bottom teeth.

We also started carrots yesterday. Could it possibly be a reaction to the carrots? Maybe they upset his belly? His poop was bright orange and runny this morning. I usually try a new food 3 days in a row but I don't want to give it to him again today if that was the cause of his pain.

I'm not really sure how to proceed from here. Any advice?

ETA: He hasn't been eating his normal amount this morning. He acts like his hungry but squirms and wines while eating.
