@Meggo5: mine started teething around 3/3.5 months and had a tooth by 4 mos 1 week, and another a few days later. That being said sleep is disturbed around 3/4 months and according to what ive read all babies like to gnaw on their hands around this age, so I guess it is really speculation until that tooth shows up. We think he may be teething again at 5 months, but no sign of a tooth yet, just fussiness.

DD never drooled so we didn't know that she had a tooth coming in until she bit my sister with it right at 5 months.

I thought for sure she would have a bunch of teeth by now since she started showing all signs at 2 month but nothing yet!

@FutureMrsMcK: Poor little guy! I hope he's feeling ok!

Glad to know that the drool is not necessarily indicative of teething :)

My lo was a drool machine for 6 months before teeth came, at least. She was very slow to get her first tooth though, I think 9 months.

My LO went through a mega drooling phase around 4 months but it stopped for a while. I was convinced she was teething but her first teeth didn't pop up for another 4 months.

His first two started to come through around 4.5 months and erupted right around 5 months...the drooling started around 2 months, but I read that until they're 4-6 months old they have trouble swallowing all of the saliva they produce, so though it is a sign of possible teething, it's not necessarily that.

The signs I saw besides the drool were flushed cheeks, increased fussiness, weird eating (he would latch on, suck then immediately pull off and cry), swollen gums and flushed, rosy cheeks. He has 6 more pushing through now and has had the same symptoms.

When did you start having to think about teething? My son is going to be 3 months old next week and I thought I would have a long time ahead of me to start worrying about this, but he has just started to drool quite a lot over the past week or so. I had read that drooling and extra saliva is often a precursor to teething and I'm curious if you've seen this before?

I am just hoping we have a bit more time until teething truly begins!
