I'd take her to get checked for an ear infection just in case.

I've heard that teething can lead to ear infections.

Sounds like teething. :( But sometimes teething leads to ear infections so it's hard to tell. I always take my kids in when I'm not sure. Ear infections are so painful for babies so if it's an infection, I want to clear it up right away.

DS always has congestion and a runny nose when he has an ear infection(he's had 5 that we know of). Honestly, it sounds like it could be both...and it goes suck, it's happened to us.

My LO has had most of those symptoms, minus the diarrhea. I took him into the pedi, and it was not an ear infection, so I'm assuming it was teething. I normally take him in if I ever have any doubt, though, just for my own peace of mind.

She could easily have both. I would take her in just to see.

My son's had two ear infections unrelated to teething and both times, he has had a fever that accompanied them. I would go in and see the ped.

@MamaMoose: Agreed...doesn't hurt to take her in. LO will pull at his ear when he's teething and I think it's an ear infection when it's just the pain traveling to his ear. I'm in the better to be safe than sorry camp...especially with the congestion.

same as @mamamoose...The congestion always causes LO to have an ear infection.

It sounds more like teething to me, but I say that because when E had an ear infection she was SCREAMING all.night.long. There was no mistaking something was really off, in a big way. Not fussy, but straight up in-pain screams every single time she woke up, which was every hour (or less).

I'd call back and ask if you can bring her in for them to check.

I'd take her in. EVERY time my LO cuts a tooth she gets so congested that it backs up and causes an ear infection.

I think it sounds more like teething to me bc she won't let you in her mouth. But...LO has had both at the same time before as well!

Does this sound more like teething or an ear infection?
Nearly 8 month old LO
~ Irritable/Fussy
~ Awake every 2 hours during the night
~ Runny nose
~ Slightly congestion
~ Diarrhea
~ Drooling
~ Rubs head by ear area (also her tired sign)
~ Won't open mouth for us
~ Swollen lower middle gums
~ No fever

She doesn't have any teeth yet, and hasn't had any ear infections. To me it sounds like teething and I called the advice nurse for confirmation, but she said it also sounded like it could be an ear infection.

What do you guys think?
