we use ibuprofen + teething tablets and they work pretty well in tandem for us. DS also has a lovey that he tends to chew on even when he's not teething, so maybe that helps? does she have a lovey or blankie?

Maybe an amber necklace if she'll leave it alone? Everyone is telling me they are a must have for teething & that they've decreased the drool & pain.

@twodoghouse: aw poor babies!!!!! :( DD1 never really had the runny nose while teething but dd2 definitely does! I've noticed it the last few times teeth popped through.

DD was getting her top molars a couple weeks ago and came down with a cold at the same time. We were giving ibuprofen plus teething tablets and occasionally teething ointment at bedtime and nothing helped. She basically stopped eating, too, because everything hurt to eat. She was just nursing and eating yogurt pouches. We tried Popsicles But I think they were too cold. Ultimately, we just had to wait it out till they popped through. She screamed for 2.5 hrs straight one night last week while I tried to comfort her and nothing helped. Not even nursing! In the morning two I saw that two molars had finally broken the surface. Her twin brother had a rough night last night and sure enough I can see where his gums are swollen. He's got a runny nose today too so I think there is a correlation. I hope your DD feels better soon!

@Foodnerd81: haha yup she moves too much and gets up sometime and readjusts herself. Depending on how she is in the a.m. I might give her a dose of camilia before leaving for the daycare.

@Pancakes: thanks! I happened to see her muslin a&a sleep sack after bath and did just that.

@lavender: thanks! She's not a fan of frozen teething rings so I did that to see if she'll like it since she loves sucking on washcloths in the bath. But nope, wouldn't use it. LOL

@regberadaisy: I don't think I did it with ibuprofen- it's all a blur but I want to say we used it more before 6 months when she couldn't have ibuprofen. So on that note, have you tried Tylenol to see if that helps any more than the ibuprofen? Teething sucks. And colds.

If you do suspect a cold are you able to elevate the mattress? By that age c was scooting around too much and would end up sideways anyway but I know some people have luck with that.

Eta: never mind- 13 months, I'm sure she's moving too much for the mattress trick.

I'm in the same boat right now and DD #2 is cutting 6 (!) teeth, we are all miserable.

Have you tried putting a damp washcloth in the fridge? Have her chew on that to help her gums.

Also Popsicles will do the trick.

@Mrs.Someone: @Foodnerd81: it's entirely possible she has a cold too. But even so, not much more I can do than the cool mist humidifier. She's barely 13m. She'll burn up in footed sleepers and won't keep socks on so I can't put Vicks on her feet. :/

@Foodnerd81: have you used that in conjunction with ibuprofen? I did get that with dd1 but never used it. Hopefully it hasn't expired!

We had some luck with Boiron Camillia for teething and fussiness. But I agree it sounds like it could be a cold mixed in there too. Poor baby. :(

DD2 is cutting some teeth right now and even ibuprofen is providing no relief. Her nose is a faucet and her drool is coming out in buckets and she's coughing I'm assuming due to all the extra saliva. I gave ibuprofen right before bed and she was still up in 45minutes then again 2 hours later crying. It took me almost two hours to get her back to sleep! :bummed:
I've got a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil to help with the coughing in case it's not due to teething.

What else can I do to help her sleep and ease her discomfort?

My older daughter was such an easy teether!
