We like this http://www.boironusa.com/products/camilia/ for teething discomfort. It has worked very well for us. We tried a baltic amber teething necklace, but it didn't really seem to help with drooling or teething discomfort. But I have heard many people report that it seemed to work for them, so I would say it might still be worth a try. If Lorelei is really miserable in the night and the homeopathic stuff doesn't cut it, we will dose her with Tylenol, but we have never needed to give more than one dose. If you're nursing you can give some frozen breastmilk in a mesh feeder (like this http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Pack-Fresh-Feeder-Colors/dp/B000GK5XY2) and let her gnaw on it. That was always a big hit with my littles. I second the Lifefactory teether as being great. Typically the worst of the teething pain seems to last 1-2 days at our house. It would be rare for me to need to do any type of intervention beyond that. Hope that helps a little.

My DS is 5 months and, after a month, his bottom tooth popped through last week. But now I think he's cutting another one, because fussiness and crying are back. I have no solutions, but we like this teething ring:

@oliviaoblivia: L seems to be teething now. Today I broke off a chunk of frozen breastmilk and put it in a mesh teether. He seemed to like it...

No suggestions that haven't been mentioned just empathy! I think we're cutting the second bottom as well.

@oliviaoblivia: ya that's why i would wear her for a while, it would probably just keep her happy and calm.

@PurpleUnicorn: both. She woke up crying/yelling last night. We never have night wake ups. We gave her Tylenol and some boob time and it helped but she still seems really uncomfortable.

are you referring to daytime or nighttime crying/pain? you know my solution for anything during the day to calm L is to whip out the Beco! he got his first 2 teeth and i didn't know they came in till i saw a flash of white in the mirror. And when he is not in there, I just keep giving him toys to chew on as mentioned above (sophie and teethers). he also chews on his soft toys and seems to like it.

There's not much you can do until the tooth breaks through. We haven't tried the refrigerated teethers. But my son enjoyed gnawing on Sohpie and the lifefactory silicone teethers. He also chewed on his own thumb a lot. You can rub your finger on her gums too to help.

We survived teething with Hyland's teething tablets, Sophie the giraffe, terry cloth bibs, and tylenol. Sometimes the pain and extra fussiness would last a month or more, sometimes just 2 weeks.

She was happy with the refrigerated teethers even if they lost their chill quickly. I also spent a lot of time massaging her gums with my finger. She loved that.

LO is 4.5 months and got her first tooth two weeks ago. It coincided with her four months shots so I thought that her increased fussiness was due to discomfort from her shots. I had given her Tylenol for the shots and that provided her some comfort but I'm reluctant to keep dosing her for teething. It looks like she is trying to cut the other bottom tooth and she has been crying, which she never does. We have some frozen teething toys but I find that they defrost really quickly and she needs another within five minutes.

Advice? What worked for your baby? How long did the pain last? Any more natural remedies? Any teethers that you loved?

I just hate seeing her in pain!
