I have two of the travel pouches. They are frequently on sale on Amazon. I'm neutral. I like to play with them and find them distracting and interesting, especially to keep in my diaper bag. . My 18 month old likes them for about 10 seconds until she finds two sides that oppose and then she gets SO frustrated as she can't understand why they don't "stick". I've had better luck with mega blocks. Maybe in another year but I'm not investing in them. They are really expensive. By the time she warms to them she might be Lego age.

I bought a big set for my LO's first birthday. They mostly entertained the adults for the first few months. Except in the car--she loved playing with a few in the car. It's a lot more cost effective to put a few into a bag than to buy their travel set, btw.

Now at 19 months she enjoys them more, especially the big racing wheels. Important note: the one piece that is too small for under 3 years is the small wheel (which comes in the big sets), so you should remove those. Replace with the big racing wheels.

We have them but he was never really into them until close to 4. At that age, he started to really like them and get creative with them.

@MenagerieMama: glad your pup is ok!

@looch: your toy checklist is my toy checklist too!

Sounds like this toy is better for when he's older. Thanks!

I think the only hazard is around pets. One of our dogs got one and chewed it up and I had a heart attack until I found both tiny magnets. Luckily she is a destroyer and not a consumer. Now we are just extra careful about picking them up and love them!

We have a small travel size. They were awesome for when out to dinner. She would happily play with them while we waited for food. I can't see a baby eating them.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: we have two of the small travel pouches which I highly recommend. Definitely good to start with to see if he likes them.
They are WAY too big for a kid to eat. They won't even fit in my sons mouth.

Have them. The magnets on these work on polarity, so they're not as great as magnatiles. If given a choice, my son would not choose these.

But they tick off all the boxes for parents...not plastic, not character driven, don't make noise, etc. I think for a one year old, they're not something that is going to be anything other than a chew toy.

I don't have these, but my daughter is about to turn one. I wouldn't get them for her yet. She still puts everything in her mouth and I would be concerned she'd bite through one of the thinner pieces and swallow a magnet. I like toys that she can play with without me having to be right there with her. I would wait until age two or three. Those look really neat though! I'm going to bookmark the page.

We got them at 1 and she's now 2. I am neutral on them so far. My husband and I love them. They are still tricky for her to build with but she loves taking them apart and playing with them on a cookie sheet. The pocket pack is fun for the car or restaurants. I'm glad we have them and I actually plan to add to our collection but they won't be used the way you expect for awhile. My daughter still puts everything in her mouth and I'm not at all worried about these, they are too big to be swallowed Ave the magnets are completely inside wood with no way to pry them open.

We have them and LO1 (almost 3) loves them but LO2 (almost 1) doesn't understand how - or have the hand/eye coordination - to play with them yet. I'd stick with duplos or something similar for now.

I'm thinking ahead for LO's first birthday. DH is concerned about LO eating a piece since the pieces have magnets inside.

http://www.tegu.com/

Do you have these? What age did you give them to your LO? Is it a good toy- endless possibilities for creative play?
