It doesn't get that cold here, but I have the spring/fall version of the M coat that @oliviaoblivia mentioned. LO isn't here yet so I can't say how it has worked out for babywearing yet, but it's been great as a maternity coat so far and I love the three-in-one concept!

I am asking for one of those babywearing fleeces for Christmas!

My baby was born in January and we went out a lot in the first few months. To keep her warm I would dress her in a footed sleep and play and a hat, then put on one of those super comfy Gap full-body suits with the hood and hand covers, then put her in the carrier. If it was really cold, I would wrap a fleece blanket around the carrier once she was in.

Keeping her warm was no problem - it was more my neck that got cold because I had to wear my jacket open around the carrier.

Putting your baby in a carrier against you - especially if you are using the infant insert for the Ergo - should keep them really cozy. It's the stroller that requires a Bundle Me or extra blankets...

@Cherrybee: do you always have the wine and beer as well? ;)

We do something similar- fleece one piece from old navy that has feet and mittens and a hood. But, it hasn't gotten that cold here yet. Once it's really freezing I'm not sure what we will do.

I'm currently using the Ergo with an infant insert. Baby stays pretty toasty inside the insert. I use the head cover to protect him from the wind, and I wear a jacket that can cover the both of us. I also have the Zutano elf suit and can't wait until he is big enough to fit into it.

I bought a cheap XL coat that fits over both of us. If you are more hardcore you could look into the M coat. It's pricey but awesome.

@tlcbaby: yup! He stayed SUPER warm, so I would usually do a onesie and leggings, the elf suit, and then a hat. As his legs got longer, the bottoms of the suit didn't fit to flip over his feet, so I added a pair of zutano booties (which are awesome!

@hilsy85: I have a K'Tan and also a Beco Butterfly, but I mostly use the K'Tan. That little elf suit is adorable-did you just put it on over his outfit?

What kind of carrier do you have?

When I used my moby with LO, I would just zip him under a coat or a sweatshirt with a coat on top. Once I started using the ergo (at about 3 months old), he was super warm in the insert so I just dressed him normally, maybe with a sweater on top and a hat. Once I stopped using the insert, this fleece one piece was awesome: http://www.zutano.com/product/JFL/cozie-baby-elf-onesie.html?child=JFL00-APPL-12M#APPLE COZIE BABY ELF SUIT

I never worried about zipping my coat around him. I did try to wear higher necked shirts and sweaters bc my chest would get cold because the coat would be open.

It is starting to cool down here and I am trying to figure out keeping LO warm in the baby carrier this winter. I wore my maternity coat and buttoned it over both of us, but I know that won't work for long as he gets bigger.

Does anyone use the hoodies or jackets made to work with baby carriers or do you just bundle up your LO before putting them in the baby carrier?
