@Dandelion: @jhd: we 100% should have done this! I *hate* that stupid infant seat with the fire of 1000 suns. We are getting a new seat because of our car accident, and there is no question we are going with a convertible.

@spaniellove: I've used the stroller without a seat attachment from the very beginning. I can count on one hand the number of times I've carried the seat on its own. Waaaaaay too heavy!

We switched early at 4 months because he hated the infant seat. The worst part of switching is that when he falls asleep in the car we have to wake him up to transfer to the stroller. This happens to us all the time on the weekends when we're running errands.

I probably got weird looks for having a big, nearly year old baby in the infant seat. We used ours until he was old/big enough for a 3 in 1 carseat. I don't remember at what age, but we stopped carrying him in the infant seat, he was way too heavy for me in that thing.

We switched to a convertible around 5 months. J was big, I wasn't able to carry him in the infant seat anymore and he was getting pretty long for it anyway.

I will probably switch even earlier with LO#2.

We switched to a convertible around 6 or 7 months, because I wasn't using the infant seat to carry her around anymore. I think I only brought it into daycare once or twice and that was only when Dad or Auntie was picking her up. Other than that, I carried her in and no one said a thing.

I stopped carrying the infant seat very early. We lived up a flight of stairs and it was hard to carry. Plus she hated the car seat. We still used the infant seat until she was almost one. I didn't see any difference when we switched to the convertible seat.

We switched late, but stopped carrying the infant seat around at like 6 months (unless she was sleeping, which happened rarely). I baby wore a lot, so we rarely used the infant seat in the stroller.

we switched around 5 months (it also happened to be spring here, so perfect timing). it was more convenient in every way except if she fell asleep! I did not have success with moving her and keeping her asleep. but she was much happier in a roomier seat.

I haven't quite ditched the infant car seat yet, but we've always just put E in the stroller without the car seat. We have the baby jogger city mini gt (which reclines fully) and added an infant head and body support. He's always been super comfy in there, he gets really hot in the car seat and likes to stretch out.

We switched at 6 months to a convertible car seat but prior to that I was leaving the infant seat in the car and would just put her in a stroller...probably around 4-5 months.

I almost exclusively use a carrier. The carseat is too much for me with another small child and even getting the double out can be a lot of work for a small job. I just started putting my 5 (almost 6) month old in a frame stroller if it's a longer task and it's just her sometimes.

we skipped the infant seat altogether. i was self conscious the first time i took him to the doctor. the nurse complimented me on our stroller and i said i did that instead of infant seat so i wouldn't have to carry a heavy seat + big baby! she said that was smart! ;)

I started with a convertible with M. I bought a stroller that reclines all the way back, and I wear him almost everywhere we go. At restaurants, he just sits in my lap, but that's only recently. I hadn't been out to eat since he was born until just last week. But, I really haven't missed the infant seat at all.

We switched to a convertible around 6 months. Before that I just left the infant carrier in the car. It was way too awkward to carry around. I never got any weird looks!

We babywear instead of using a stroller, so I switched her from an infant seat to a convertible at like 4 months. It seemed more comfortable for her. Next time I will probably go straight to the convertible from day 1.

If you switched from the infant seat to the convertible seat (and regular stroller setup) really early on, tell me about your experience! I guess I'm a wimp, because I'm already tired of dragging around 11 lbs of baby + 11 lbs of car seat (stupid Mesa). Did you just leave the infant seat in the car? Did you get weird looks for having an obviously young baby and no car seat at the doctor?
