We still have the bundle with internet, cable and a land line (for our alarm system). It doesn't make sense to try to uncouple, the two services we need separately cost more than the bundle, so we still have cable, but we don't ever watch it...I am going on about 18 months of not watching TV, outside of some Disney Channel and kids DVDs. I have no idea what is going on with Orange is the New Black, but I don't feel like I am missing anything anymore.

@sorrycharlie: We love fios too! We have internet, cable, and phone for $84.99/month. That includes all of the HD channels & a multi-room DVR. The internet alone is $74.99, so I'm happy with my cable!

@NCSUchick27: we haggled with comcast to get the bill under $100. We just have the basic 100 comcast channels. No HD and no DVR but we stream other stuff as needed. I refuse to pay more than $100/month

When we first got married we just had Netflix and super cheap broadband internet. Broadband isn't offered where we live now, so the internet + cable packages aren't much more than the internet only price. I didn't mind not having cable at the time, but I honestly wouldn't want to go back to that. I love my cable TV!

We got rid of it not too long ago, and it was an awesome decision. We bought a Roku, and we have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus (we use Hulu Plus the most!). We also bought a digital antenna for local stations. We don't get a lot, just FOX, NBC and CBS... but it's enough for us!

We have a BluRay player with a ton of apps on it - we use Hulu Plus and Netflix most frequently. We've been without cable for a year, and we don't miss it! We could honestly get rid of Netflix and just use Hulu Plus.

We got a digital antenna and get the basic stations. Good enough for us but we don't watch much anyway. No netflix or hulu but DH wants the Amazon box since we have Prime. We'll see, I don't think we'd use it. Only thing about no cable is I don't know how we'll watch Walking Dead!

We ditched it in January. We got an Apple TV for the living room and one for our bedroom. We have Netflix and Hulu and we borrow my moms Comcast login to access other channels. We also like to watch a lot of YouTube channels. There's basically nothing we can't watch. With little to no commercials!! We love it and it's way cheaper.

We had friends ask us if we had seen a certain movie that had just come out and we had never heard of it. We realized it's because we rarely see any ads or commercials. That was a good feeling. Lol

ETA: You can plug your laptop in to your TV to access Netflix so you don't need an Apple TV or other device. But we got them because of the airplay with our iPhones and access to iTunes and iTunes Radio right on the Tv.

I meant to say above, we often just plug our laptop into our TV with an HDMI cable to stream - so you don't really need to buy anything extra if you don't want to (assuming you have a laptop).

@sorrycharlie: ah; that is what it was about here too, I thought you said it was cheaper than internet & streaming so that's why I thought you must have a deal! I have heard that some companies have started offering "secret" deals with only the sports channels if you call and try to cancel.

@jetsa: yeah, that's what I mean - 118 includes internet. So for internet only, it would be $50 ish.. Which would in theory save is 68 but then with the cost of all the subscriptions, something to buy to stream them all upstairs, the savings wasn't enough for DH to let me cancel.

@sorrycharlie: don't you pay for internet anyway though?

We are debating this. We are trying to find a DVR and antenna so we can still record from the local channels. We have amazon prime and netflix. Prime is just a perk I dislike it for streaming. We have an internet tv. We knocked down our directv a few months ago but still pay $45 for fees, locals, and food/DIY channels.

Yes we did this when LO was around 5 months since I didn't want to TV on around him anyway. Also his room is right off the living room so we can't really watch tv when he is asleep, it would be too loud. We have Amazon Prime and Netflix. I just watch free stuff off Hulu. My parents have HBO and we have access to their HBO Go on the lap top and that is amazing! See if you can find a friend who would give you there HBO Go login- they can use it on up to 5 devices.

We watch everything on the laptop or iPad, fyi. DH still uses the actual TV to play video games once in a while.

We ditched it 3 years ago for hulu, netflix and amazon. Hulu is the only thing I pay specifically for watching tv. We use a roku to stream and there are lots of other channels: hbo go (use my parents log in), PBS kids. I do miss random shows on hgtv and bravo but overall, it's been awesome!

We have basic basic cable - meaning only local channels {abc, nbc, cvs} ... and then HuluPlus, Netflix and Amazon Prime. We wouldn't do Amazon Prime just for the streaming, but it's definitely an added perk to an otherwise awesome service!

The device we use a google chrome cast! It's awesome. You can "cast" Hulu and Netflix from any computer or smart phone. It also works with YouTube and a couple others, but not amazon prime and not Apple videos, iTunes, etc, because Apple wants you to get apple tv. It wa so cheap and easy though, we love it.

DH and I have been having this debate for months. We are in canada though so our streaming abilities are different. We maybe turn our tv on for an hour or so in the evening to watch certain shows but usually just watch netflix or stream online. I am trying to convince him to drop it all together.
Any of you ladies know if these streaming progress you talk about work in the great white north?? We currently have netflix- switch between the American and Canadian one depending on what shows we are watching :)
Thanks
