My LO was breastfed & formula fed until 1. She then self-weaned from breast & bottle, and we switched to water.

I rely on food for nutrition & water for hydration. I've had her blood tested each year (at 1 and 2), and she's totally healthy. Just a perspective to show that the amount of milk isn't as important, as long as baby is getting good nutrients from food. :)

DD is 12.5 months and we're nursing morning/night/weekends and sending two bottles to daycare. I plan to taper down the daycare breastmilk until she's totally on cow milk and solids there and keep nursing at home as long as we want to, maybe to two years.

I'm on vacation in Mexico right now and just doing nursing and solidsc and water in a sippy here, and so glad we're still nursing since it's a little hit and miss with the solids. Cow milk can wait until we get home, we tried it for a couple weeks with mixed results.

I'm pissed off since I heard our daycare won't allow breastmilk in a sippy. So I don't have a choice but to get her off breastmilk at daycare or else risk her teeth. Maybe could just continue one bottle - her doctor was OK with that.

At a year we were nursing morning and night and if I wasn't home he would get a 6 ounce bottle of cow milk. He also would have a 6 ounce bottle after afternoon nap 3 days a week with the babysitter. Milk is always in a bottle. He takes water from a sippy cup. Thats pretty much what we are still doing at 14 months, but we've weened, so it's all cow milk.

No more pumping is so nice....

We started mixing cow milk and breastmilk around 1 year in DD's bottles. We had been supplementing with a little bit of formula (also mixed with breastmilk in a bottle), so we just changed the mix. I continued nursing until 19 months, but started dropping feeds until she eventually would just nurse before naps and bed. Then we switched to a sippy cup with milk before naps and bed. Now she just drinks milk with meals.

DD is only 16 mo but I feel like I already forgot what happened haha. We switched to WCM by 12 months for sure... I'd give sippy cup with WCM (like 5-6 oz) for morning, sometime during the afternoon and then before bed. In the beginning she really didn't drink much but eventually it ramped up. I wasn't too concerned since she also eats yogurt and cheese regularly.

I supplemented, so at 1 I kept nursing (nursed until almost 23 months) but stopped formula. I kept giving bottles of bm (pumped until about 16 months) when I had them but also gave cups or bottles of wcm when I didn't have enough. Basically, I subbed wcm for formula. If I was doing it again, I might have not put the wcm in bottles--weaning lo off bottles at 17 months was HARD! harder than weaning from nursing at 23 months and paci at 24...

@lilyofthewest: we mixed BM with CM - started with mostly BM and then reduced it slowly - both kids transitioned this way and we had no issues

I fully weaned at one. He got a bedtime bottle but the rest of the day was milk or water. I started offering him milk about a month before that. At first he drank very little of it but then increased. If you have pumped milk you could try offering that in a cup first, or some people have success mixing the two to switch over.

At one, she got one sippy cup of milk A day. We missed in demand while together and made sure she had other sources of dairy available. We pretty much switched cold turkey and after a week she was fine.

I stared one bottle at 10.5 mo of WCM. She takes 3 6oz bottles of WCM starting at 1. Weaned herself within a week. She has a zoli cup of water available all the time.

@lilyofthewest: my DD is a month younger early June bday, and right now I only nurse/bottle 4x per day. Morning nurse around/after lunch, before dinner, then at night. When she is with the baby sitter, she only gets one 4-5 oz bottle.

Baby's first birthday is coming up May 1st and I need some educating and wisdom about what I do with milk! What did milk for the day look like at/after a year in your family?

So far he's had exclusively breastmilk. I had a major supply drop a few weeks ago after an illness and thought I was going to have to supplement then, but it all worked out at the 11th hour/final freezer bag and we're still going strong.

However, I know I won't be able to keep up -- after LO's birthday I won't be entitled to take pump breaks anymore (other than when/if I get a lunch). I'm also just looking forward to not pumping anymore!

Baby currently gets three 3.5-4oz bottles during daycare. He has water from a straw cup with solids meals and snacks. We've tried offering milk from a sippy or straw cup a few times a home without success.
