I SAH til dd started just around her 3rd birthday so she was a bit clingy. We started with 3 days a week, which would probably be ok now, but was too hard for her to get on a routine then, so we upped to 5 mornings a week. I definitely think preschool has helped her grow to be more confident, independent, and social.

My DD was always in full-time daycare but at age 2.9, she switched over to the preschool program at our daycare and it's been a great experience. It is still full-time but the preschool level has a bit more structure and curriculum. I honestly don't know if I would like her in a full-day "academic" preschool, but ours is Montessori with a music focus and I really love the program. They all still nap every day, they get outside at least once and sometimes twice, they get music class every day plus private lessons once per week, and they have a different cultural theme each month. My DD does really well with the Montessori approach and I like that there are kids of various ages in her class (it's for age 2.9 to 6). I think I am going to be pretty sad when she leaves for public school for K.

At 3 we transitioned her from a daycare center to a preschool and it's been so great. She goes 5 days a week (we both work so she'd be in full-time care regardless). I love her teachers and she seems really excited to learn (last night she came home and couldn't wait to tell me how many sides all the different shapes have). Overall it's been a really positive experience.

The twins are in 3 yr PK right now. They were already going to be in daycare all day anyway, and their daycare is connected to a private school that has PK3-5th grade, so we put them in that as well. They go 5 days a week from 8:15-11:30.

I think having them in some kind of PK would have been good no matter what, though we have not had a super great experience but that had more to do with getting a teacher that was . . . ahem . . . let's say a little different. :bummed: Even with less than ideal circumstances, they have definitely increased in their letter awareness, ability to write letters, and other general things. I think the best thing, though, has been them just getting more adjusted to a "school" setting because they will be in an all day pre-k next year at a public school, and I'd rather they start learning some of those social/school skills before they go to their "real" school next year. I was at home with them before they started here, so I think it was a hard adjustment in general and I'm glad we did it at 3 when I really don't care how much they actually learned, I just wanted them to have a little experience in more of a school setting rather than just playing at daycare.

I had a very specific idea of what preschool should look like, I wanted it to be as unacademic as possible with the ability for my son to develop his social and emotional skills. I wasn't concerned with him learning his letters or numbers, but more dealing with other children, being able to take directions from people that were not his family. Additionally, I wanted it to be as close to the European nature experience (waldspielgruppe) that my husband had growing up.

That greatly limited my options, and what I did find was not inexpensive, but I have to say, looking back, it was the best thing I could have done. My son went 5 days a week, from 12-3 for the 3-4 year and then 8-2 for the 4-5 year. It was truly an amazing experience and he asks to return for summer camp year after year.

I started my DD1 when she was just a month shy of turning 3. She goes MWF 9-12 and it's awesome. She loves it so much and she's learning so much! Plus, it gives me one-on-one time with DD2 (2.5 years younger) and an opportunity to do classes with her, etc. I SAHM and it is well worth it.

We are in a nanny share and started preschool at 2 years old. He goes 3 days a week 8:30-12:30. The 3s class had an option for 4 or 5 days a week (same time as his current class), so we are doing 5 days in the fall.

We started at 2.5 MWF 8:30-12:30. We both love her school. It's given her so much independence. I'm home with her baby sisters and it's so helpful to have her do her own big girl thing a few times per week.
Little sis will start this summer at 2.5 as well.

My DD was in grandma care and we did half day preschool for 2 days and we did a gym/ballet class on another day.

I was super apprehensive but it was a really good experience for her. She loved her school and they did a lot of cool stuff. It was small about 10-11 kids and she really bonded with the kids and teachers. I was happy she had such a positive first school experience.

My kid started at 2 and goes 5 days a week. My son is very routine driven and had a speech delay, so going every day was beneficial for him. If we did part-time I think he would have had a harder time getting some consistency. He has really thrived and it has been a complete lifesaver after having my second child. He eats lunch at school and he honestly eats wayyy better there with his peers than he does at home so its also helped his palate too. They run him really hard outside and he gets big messy art projects that I would never do at home and he gets lots of music and dancing and gets to play with kids his age as well as play with older kids and its just been a wonderful experience for him.

No experience yet, but I am starting my 3 year old in August! We just put down a deposit at a co-op preschool. There are 2 full time paid teachers, and then each family takes one turn a month being the assistant teacher in each of the classrooms, plus you have another "job"doing bookkeeping, lawn care, organizing play dates for younger siblings, etc. I like that I will be really involved in her classroom, and that she will have an easier transition. It's also SUPER SUPER cheap.... $160/ month rather than $260+ for other 3 day programs in my area. I was hesitant to "waste" the money, but I think it will make her transition to kindergarten much much easier.

My 3 yo (well, he's 4 now but was 3 at the beginning of the school year) is at a parent co-op preschool 3 days a week from 9-12, with the option on any given day to stay until 2 for an additional $10. I love it, he loves it, we're all happier this way. Little brother is still at home, so myself or my mother are always on childcare duty, so it was more for the experience of school than for a break (though at the beginning of the year when LO2 was still taking two naps, there was a bit of a break.) It gives me time to do errands with just one child and doesn't break the bank since it's a co-op.

My daughter started right after she turned 3 (late summer bday). She goes two mornings a week, 9-12. We recently added staying for lunch so now it's 9-1. It's been great for her. She always wants to go, the only tears we have had were because she didn't want to leave. It's a coop so I stay about every two months and help out, which I like because t gives me a chance to see her at school and see what they do. Also because it's a coop, it's a little cheaper than some others. I've been really happy. I think she would do well with 3 days a week too but that isn't offered at her school for 3 year olds. Next year (right after she turns 4) she will go to 4 mornings a week.

Yep! 3 days a week, 2.5 hours each day. WELL worth it, but my LO needed the socialization and had been with no one except me or my mom here or there. LO2 will be going as well. She had rough drop offs all year but made this year (4's preschool) way way better, in my opinion.
