That interest is killing me. I consolidated three years ago and it looks like I only paid $3k towards the principle, WTF? And because I am doing an income based repayment plan, I owe more now than I did a year ago.</p> <p>Good thing I went into social work and will be able to make the big bucks to pay down these loans. It was quick and easy. Unless something has changed over the past 6 months, Sallie Mae no longer consolidates loans, and they were one of the big consolidators. Our mortgage lender said 'do you really have all these little loans?' Sallie Mae rolls all of them into two payments, but they're fairly substantial and almost all of them have a different interest rate. Difficult to keep up with.</p> <p>How did you do your student loan consolidation? Was it an easy process? Who did you go through? </p>
