DH and I watched Polar Express last night and both agreed we won't let R watch it for a couple more years. It has some scary parts.

We have tried reading it a couple of times - E will sit through most of the book, but I do shorten it some. If you know the story fairly well, you can always just improvise! (heck, you could do that even if you don't know the story). I *think* she would sit through having a stranger read the book out loud, but I'm not sure.

I've seen the movie and I think it's a little too advanced for 2.5 years. My LO sits through entire movies, but only if they are heavy on the songs - like Frozen. If there is more conversation than songs, she won't sit through it or really enjoy it.

We are going on the Polar Express train tomorrow- so I guess we'll see if she sits through a reading of the book by a stranger!

I tried reading it to O and he couldn't sit through it. It was too long for him per page. But I think he'd like the movie since it has a train in it.

We're taking M to a reading at B&N tonight. She'll be 2 next week but I'm not expecting her to make it through the whole thing.

We have been reading the book for the past few years and this year I finally let them watch the movie - my 6 yr old LOVED it but my 3.5 yr old wasn't interested and kept asking when she could watch Frozen :silly:

DD liked the book more -it has great pictures - I would try it and if not you will have it for next year

We just read it last night to my LO (22 mo). She sat through it just fine, but we've been reading longer and longer books lately. Fair warning, it is long (a paragraph or two per page).

With all that said, it's not my favorite but every kid I've met seems to like it. I've never seen the movie.

Have you read it or seen the movie? Did you/your lo's like it?

Would a 2.5 year old sit through reading the book?
