@hilsy85: ooh that's a good idea! i'll have to do a little searching...

@lamariniere: thanks! i'll check them out. Pretty much anyone who doesn't have a UB or city mini in the city has a maclaren, haha.

@Alivoo01: oh i know. DH will probably freak out...until he tries to put the UBV in and out of his car a few times haha!

We have the Chicco Liteway Plus, but I've been seeing the UB GLuxe around lately and am attracted to it. Hubby would kill me if I got another stroller though. Unless I sold our Liteway. :silly:

We have a Maclaren Techno XT, which I loved when we were in NYC. It has become our travel stroller. Things I like: it fully reclines, it has a very large sunshade and it is easy to fold. Another Maclaren I have never used but would buy if I didn't already have the Techno XT is the Globetrotter, it's a lighter weight than mine, but still reclines.

We love our UB g lux! I bet you could find an older model, since the 2013 ones had some new features (but we have a 2012 one and it is great).

@Mrs. Bee: ah ok, that makes sense! hmm maybe i'll wait until we actually move then and see how much we need it before buying it. if we don't end up using it much, i'd hate to have spent a lot of money on it.

@Pirouette: yah the city mini folds in half from top to bottom, so it is very wide. and it doesn't stand when folded. umbrella strollers fold lengthwise so they are long and skinny and you'll still have trunk space.

whenever we visit my parents in the suburbs, we never take a stroller anywhere except to disneyland. we just drive everywhere and have never really needed the stroller even when olive was 1.

@Mrs. Bee: thanks! so the gluxe is much smaller than the city mini folded up? still trying to imagine a life where i don't walk everywhere, so it's definitely hard to figure out exactly how much i'll be using it! :)

@My Only Sunshine: I like the price tag! i'm having trouble wrapping my head around spending so much on this, but i definitely want a basket of some sort.

@sslm: oh wow, that really does look awesome! i might have to check that one out in buy buy baby, it looks perfect! (well, perfect would be $100 cheaper haha)

@Foodnerd81: going to have to check out that one too...thanks!

it really depends how much you'll use it. the city mini really does have the easiest fold and is easy to push. but they have a big footprint and will take up most of your trunk. in the suburbs you tend to drive everywhere, so you probably won't need your stroller a fraction as much as you do in the city. umbrella strollers will require you to push with two hands so they are more work, but they are lighter than the city mini and have a much smaller footprint.

i would also get the ubbababy over the maclaren because the uappbaby has a better fold and stands upright.

as far as napping in the stroller, both my kids napped in the stroller a lot, so recline was very important for me. especially when you have two kids, the younger kid ends up napping while you're out and about.

we also have a first years ignite at my parents' house which is a great inexpensive option (a little harder to fold but not hard by any means).

if it were me, i'd probably get an uppbaby gluxe.

If it's just for short errands and such, plus travel, I love my mountain buggy nano. It folds down in thirds instead of collapsing like an umbrella stroller so it fits better in our car. We have te ubv and that's my primary stroller (city folk too) but when in driving the nano is perfect. But I happened to use it to walk down groceries home the other day and really missed my ubv!

Eta: the nano still is a two hand fold. I think the city mini is the only one handed. If I was moving to the suburbs I'd be tempted to sell my ubv and get a city mini since it folds so so easily.

@Pirouette: If you want a really basic one, we have the $20 cheapie umbrella stroller from Babies R Us and we love it. It doesn't have a basket or a cup holder or anything but it folds really small, is comfy for the kiddo, and is easy to push.

@sslm: do you have the one wheel version? my parents have a stroller with one wheel and i don't like it as much as the ones with two wheels in front. but the city mini comes in the 4 wheel too, that could be a good option.

@looch: yea i'm debating how much we actually need the recline - she naps in the stroller occasionally now at 8 months, but i'm not sure how much that will continue!

@Pirouette: So, we have a Quinny Zapp, it folds down into a small duffle bag, so we bring it on with us when we fly (most of the time). We went this route because we lost a lot of time waiting at the gate for the gate check items to be unloaded or we had to walk a long distance to the baggage claim, so the stroller waiting for us there wasn't so useful.

This stroller is a pain to fold and unfold though. It also doesn't recline, but my son is way past stroller napping...we literally use it two or three times a year now, when we're going somewhere where we don't have access to a car, like a day in the city, or to WDW.

@mrsjyw: i love that it reclines! i was looking at the glite but it doesn't recline, but i didn't realize there was a gluxe too!

@looch: mostly because i think it will be difficult maneuvering the UBV in and out of the car all the time, and for quick trips it will be easier to have something that folds up easier and smaller. and also for travel for sure. we'll still use the UBV a lot i'm sure, but it will be nice to have a smaller option, especially since DH is getting a commuter car, and i'm pretty sure the UBV would be a tight squeeze.

What do you need it for? Travel? We use ours only when we travel, and only when we go to Disney World.

We had a similar set up, I had a full sized stroller with all terrain wheels, it was my car too!

We have the UB Gluxe and love it! (Also a suburbanite)

It's light weight, stands on its own when folded, has a decent basket underneath, a cupholder for me, a huge shade, reclines and comfortably fits my big-ish toddler (21 months).

DH loves it because of its smooth ride and one hand control is great too! It's our main stroller.

OK so I LOVE my UBV, and for city living, it is really great. We pack that thing so full of groceries and things - it's basically our car. but we're getting ready to move to the 'burbs, and LO will be almost 1 when we move, so I think it's about time for another stroller that's smaller, easier to get in and out of the car, etc.

So...what's a good complementary stroller to the UBV? I don't know anything about umbrella strollers so i'm not really sure what to look for? what features do you like in your secondary stroller? which are unnecessary?
