I've had a friable cervix for both pregnancies (LO and now). During my pregnancy with LO, I had some spotting early on. Later, I had a bout of bleeding at 20 weeks. It turned out to be two infections: bv and a yeast infection. I drank Kefir the rest of my pregnancy.

This pregnancy, I still have a friable cervix. I'm taking probiotics at the start which I think makes a huge difference not just for digestion but for my ladybits. I also use lubricant after sex too in order to calm down the bits. DH and I had sex last night. I bled a bit because I knew I was already dry down there. I wiped with LO's wipes and lubed up afterward. No redness or blood since.

I had a little more bright and dark blood with wiping, then a very small amount of pink, then brown spotting on a panty liner, no cramping or further clots. I think this was almost certainly my cervix. Probably will hold off on further scans until my next scheduled appt!

I bled pretty heavily 1 day at 5wks. I sincerely thought I was m/c'ing, but we are 18.5wks now & all's going well. Hope this is nothing problematic for you. :goodluck:

I had brownish-red spotting and some more red than brown bleeding starting the day after my BFP (maybe 15 dpo/4 weeks) through my first ultrasound (I think it was sometime between 6 and 7 weeks). I was a complete wreck and, no joke, took a test everyday until my first ultrasound! (A gigantic waste of $$ but it helped ease my anxiety a little.) My OB determined that I had a friable cervix (no evidence of a SCH or anything), and I noticed throughout the pregnancy that I always spotted a little with ultrasounds and cervical checks. Anyway, my pregnancy went really smoothly besides that, I was induced at 41+1, and right now I am nursing my 3.5 month old at 2:30am!

Anyway, try to find something to help you manage the anxiety (maybe not an expensive POAS habit! acupuncture also helped me), and try to stay off Dr. Google when you can! Wishing you all the best!

During my first pregnancy I had some red bleeding, brown discharge, and cramping periodically from weeks 4-8. A triage nurse told me it could be some remnants of what would have been excreted during my period or something to that effect and the doctor wasn't worried about it. LO is now a healthy happy 14 month old.

I had bleeding at 6 and 12 weeks during my first pregnancy (dark red, clotty, and pretty dismal looking - the second time I went to the ER). The OB never found an explanation (I'd only had external ultrasounds/exams), but I had a healthy baby. I had absolutely zero spotting in my second pregnancy, and that baby was born healthy too.

I had bleeding on and off last year while pregnant and it's been going on again with the latest episode around 24 weeks. Still not sure what mine is related to, since there was no sex before the veering started but baby looks and kick great. Sounds like yours is your cervix :)

I had lots of bleeding with this pregnancy, and am now 24 weeks. I had bleeding after all ultrasounds, even the belly ones. I had a diagosed SCH eventually. The bleeding had stopped by 12 weeks.

Yes, I had bleeding on and off with both my pregnancies. With the first, it was spotting for most of the first trimester. With this one (19 weeks now), I had heavy bleeding at 8 weeks with no explanation. Then I continued to have brown discharge until 14 weeks. The doctor said he basically looked at my cervix and it bled - just really, really irritable. Good luck!

I think the combo of the ultrasound and the coughing could definitely be doing it!

I'm in third tri, but my midwives have told me multiple times that sex and/or coughing and sneezing can cause bleeding. If your cervix is sensitive, I don't think it takes much.

Thinking of you!!

I had a bunch of pink/bright red/orange blood for about an hour when I was ten weeks pregnant. Went to the ER and everything was fine! (I'm 25 weeks now, and everything is still fine!)

The ER doctor couldn't figure out what it was from, but he said that something like 60% of women experience some bleeding in pregnancy and most of the time there's no clear explanation. When I asked how to tell the difference between "no big deal" bleeding and "oh shit" bleeding, he said that while you can always come in and get checked out, if you're not going through more than one pad an hour, he doesn't get super worried.

I think some people just have grumpy cervixes! :)

@delight: Thank you! Unless the character of this bleeding changes significantly (more actual "flow"--in which case I'll pursue a scan today), I'm going to assume this is just because of a friable cervix.

I've spotted through the beginning of all pregnancies and throughout them too. I have a healthy daughter, an early MC at 8w and recently ended a pregnancy for medical reasons. My spotting is due to a friable cervix and none of my loses were attributed to it. Some people just spot or bleed and its "normal" for them. Good luck to you.

This is my 3rd pregnancy (though likely the first "healthy" one)...and the only one during which I've had any spotting.

About a week ago, I had a small amount of dusky red mucus and minimal pink spotting that lasted an hour or two, 24hours after BD.

Today, 48hours after a GREAT ultrasound, I passed a few small black clots, then pink to bright-dark red with wiping only.

I did talk with my OB this morning...and I'm feeling pretty good. Unless something changes drastically, we're going to assume everything's okay, since rescanning now might just cause even more bleeding... :bummed: I have had an awful cold for the last 3 days and been coughing my head off as well.

Has anyone had similar experiences? Was everything okay?

ETA: I'm just over 7 weeks today...
