@lamariniere: that's my hang-up about the backpack, too - having to dig around and fish for things. I wore my Skip Hop Versa mostly cross-body, and it was very nice to be able to get things out with one hand. The Babymel looks gorgeous btw! I'm jealous, DH nixed a new diaper bag for this baby (the Versa is looking a little worn).

@mrsmate: I guess I'm ready for a change, no pun intended  I think I'll be doing much less baby wearing this time around and I always felt like the backpack I did use for DS was a bit on the small side and since I had to unzip the whole thing to find things. It wasn't very convenient sometimes. I'm thinking a diaper bag that opens wide at the top would be more practical.

@leelee: good to know about the quality and the stroller straps.

That's funny, I had a diaper bag w/DD1 and now I'm thinking about going the backpack route for DD2. @lamariniere: what's keeping you from using a backpack again?

I thought the quality was good and easy to clean! I've had a JJ Cole and Diaper Dude and the Babymel was definitely my favorite. I do remember that a common complaint about the bag thoigh was that the velcro in the stroller straps wore out pretty quickly. I never use them though so never had any issue with them.

@leelee: how do you feel about the overall quality? If I decide to buy one, I will just have to buy it online and hope for the best since I don't know of any stores that carry them here.

I have the Babymel Amanda and used it a lot when DD was younger. It's a good size and has a lot of compartments. My only complaint is that the bag has a zippered cooler pocket for bottles and none of my standard bottles fit in it.

I've been considering a new diaper bag for the new baby (just used a backpack for DS). I have found a few by the Babymel brand but have never seen them in person, just online. If you have one, tell me which model and what you think of it. How is the quality? Do you think it will last a long time? Do you feel like you can use it as a non-diaper bag, like for traveling?

This is the one that I like:

http://www.happybags.co.uk/babymel-bags-mats-and-bottle-holders/babymel-big-slouchy-tweed.html
