Those definitely don't sound like Braxton Hicks to me.

Braxton Hicks (for me) are just my stomach tightening for a few seconds/minute. It kind of feels like a pressure (I originally thought the baby was just pressing against my stomach in a weird way). They don't hurt and don't last long.

I would definitely call your doctor just to be on the safe side...

I agree with the suggestion of going in. Around 32 weeks my braxton hicks got more uncomfortable to borderline painful. I was able to go in and get a non stress test and a fetal fibronectin test and when it came back that everything was fine we were able to talk about having a new baseline for normal. I frequently had contractions for the next 9 weeks before they turned into labor and sometimes they hurt and others were just frustrating.

Fingers crossed they go away and stay away in either case though!

I've had them since around 28 weeks. Im 37 weeks now and they are more frequent in the past few days. My stomach gets hard and sometimes it's uncomfortable but never painful. I also started to get bad leg cramps around 18 weeks but they were unrelated to the contractions. I would call your doc, drink lots of water. Hope you feel better!

If you are having contractions that hurt at 18 weeks, I would call my doctor. Better safe than sorry...

I'm 24 weeks and this is my first pregnancy. I have had mild cramping/possible contractions occasionally where my belly gets hard, but it is not painful.

I think you should call your Dr that is what they are there for. If it is nothing and you should not worry, they will tell you that, but I don't think you should try and stick it out. I call for way smaller stuff. Hugs.

Were they painful? When did they start for you?

This is my second pregnancy but I didn't really have much for contractions until like 36 weeks & they mostly felt like period cramps so I didn't even realize they were contractions for an embarrassing amount of time. I'm currently 18 weeks tomorrow & Sunday night I had real actual contractions (but only 2 over a span of about 5 minutes) that hurt so bad I woke up DH because I thought I might cry. Then last night I was having very very intense cramping all the way down my legs to my knees. It hurt to do anything & it lasted about an hour. I remember being very comfortable in the second trimester of my last pregnancy so I don't know if this is normal or not. I'm not having any bleeding or abnormal discharge & still feeling movement. I just don't know if this is normal or if I should call the doc (i have an appointment the 25th) or if I'm worrying too much or not enough. Share your experience!
