I have this one and love it. Not sure what your budget is or what you would consider pricey. I had my mom's 70s crockpot and used it for about 15 years so this is the first one I ever purchased; knowing it would get heavy use and that I needed the auto keep warm feature, I felt that the price was reasonable (that said, I think it was $60 when I purchased it). Hamilton Beach makes comparable ones for $50. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001KVZTFO?keywords=crockpot&qid=1445025395&redirect=true&ref_=nav_custrec_signin&ref_=sr_1_24&s=kitchen&sr=1-24

I have this one. It has a removable inside so you can do stovetop to slowcooker and it is programable with a warm setting. Love it.

It seems to me that slow cookers are always killer deals on black Friday, if you can wait that long!

Something that has an automatic turnoff and a keep warm setting is a must if you work long days, it's good to know that it will stop cooking after 6 hours or whatever.

I wanted one with an insert that I could use on the stovetop to brown meat. If I am going to use the crockpot, I really don't want to use more than one pan.

I am not sure which one it is, but it's similar to this one.

I have large one with timer. I think it was $70 new but I found it used on CL for half the price. I love it.

This one looks pretty cool.

I have one Hamilton Beach that has a locking lid that was about $30. However, it doesn't have a timer and I very much wish it did, so if I could do it over I'd look for one that has both of those features...

I have a large crockpot and a small crockpot. The large one is too heavy so I haven't used it in a while, but would love to use the small one. Maybe chili?

I want to try crock pot meals but the only one I have is the really small like $15 dollar one I got at an Elephant gift exchange.

Any recs? Nothing too fancy or expensive. We will be a family of 4 soon. Bonus points for links!
