@winniebee: We got him some stride rite water shoes. Once he's a more confident walker, I'd like to get him some natives.

We are on our second pair of keen sneakers! They are great for sturdy running on all types of surfaces and can handle some light puddle jumping because of their big rubber soles.

I love Pediped Grip n' go shoes - they're my favorite everyday shoes, but they start at size 4. I feel crazy spending $40+ on shoes, but they fit well and seem supportive and well made. My LO wears crocs for the water, and I think they're her favorite shoes since she can put them on herself easily. I actually know someone whose daughter's foot got stuck in an escalator while wearing crocs, so we really only use them for water and in our yard.

I love Tsukihoshi for regular shoes b/c they are soft and flexible and washable. My son always seems to favor those over all his other shoes. I also like See Kai Run if I can find a good deal on them. As for water shoes, Crocs and Keen. I usually get him one of each every summer. And if I'm lucky Nordstrom Rack will have some fleece lined Crocs for winter for cheap since he probably wears that less than his other shoes then. Sometimes I like having a quick on and off shoe in the winter too.

We love Pediped and SKR for everyday shoes, but I really love Keens for the summer. DD is 2 and I just ordered her 3rd pair. I love that they are so durable, and I've never really had a problem with them having any kind of an odor. DD wore her Keens all last summer, to the beach, the splash park, and the playground.

For summer/water shoes:

The Original and Shark Saltwater Sandals tend to run narrow. Charlie did not wear his Sharks at all. Olive's originals were a little uncomfortable the first time she wore them, but they have stretched out a lot and gotten softer. For wider feet I'd suggest the Sweetheart or Surfer styles. I love Saltwaters because they are so darn cute, great quality, reasonable price, and they get stretched out/softer the more you wear them in water.

Crocs are really comfortable, but there have been tons of reports of kids' crocs getting caught in escalators and causing injury. They are also more likely to slip off, so I vastly prefer Native style shoes. I've been buying them for two summers and they are a must in Charlie's summer shoe wardrobe.

I'm not a fan of the Keen style water shoes because the Natives just dry so fast.

For girls, I've really been loving Olive's Cienta Mary Jane sandals. She is a new walker and they really seem to provide a lot of support while still being cute.

For sneakers, new balance and stride rite tend to run wide or have wide options. Charlie had wide feet and those fit him well. Adidas fit him well too, but Pumas tended to be narrow.
Converse fit him well too.

Pedipeds are so soft and you can tell they are high quality when you see them. But they tended to run narrow for Charlie. I tend to think they are slighty higher quality than See Kai Run, but SKR's are really nice too.

I think you can't go wrong with Pediped or See Kai Run if you're looking for comfy toddler shoes.

For sneakers, pedipeds have worked the best for my DS who has wideish feet (and somewhat high arches). He wears the grip n go. His last pair of Stride rite Soft Motion didn't work so well, the foot opening was just too narrow. They said he needs wide sizes.

@regberadaisy: the baby sizes are soft soles but still pretty sturdy with some grip at the bottoms. They get more sturdy on the bottom as the sizes go up...they have them at nordstrom if you want to see them in person.

@mrs. tictactoe: What is his size? After buying some size 4s that are too big for DD, I have decided that she must be side 3. So *tiny* feet too! I literally have 4 different pairs of shoes in my house that need to be returned for one reason or another. DD's current shoes (See Kai Run) are in shreds, so I need some shoes that fit ASAP.
