My first week was okay but I didn't get any work done. When I was at work, I was constantly thinking and worrying about LO. But it definitely got better quickly.

I went back to work about a month ago when LO was 5 months old and the first week, especially the first day, was hard. I'd never been away from her for that long (about 9 hours) and whenever I wasn't concentrating on work or talking to co-workers, I'd get teary and start missing the baby. But as others have said, it gets easier. I still miss her every day and hate to leave her in the morning, but I know she has a great time at day care and she gives me a big smile when I pick her up. It's the best part of my day - picking her up from day care. Even a month later, I still miss her but instead of tearing up whenever I think about her or look at pictures, I get this smile on my face and think about how wonderful she is.

The first day was definitely hard. I'm not going to sugar coat it! The rest of the week was much easier than the first day though. I think everyone trying to chat with you at work and ask how the baby is was so helpful...I tried not to cry while I talked about him, but it was so nice that everyone cared so much and knew how hard it was to be back.

Once you get back into the swing of things, each day gets easier. It's still hard to leave LO in the morning, but we're both so excited to see each other when we get home...and that smile is so worth it :o)

It was really hard and I looked at a ton of pictures and cried during pumping breaks. The next week was a lot better!

It was easier in some ways but harder in others.

I cried a lot. And missed my son like crazy (had been on maternity leave for 5 months!)

Everyone at work was SO nice. And I had a nice ramp up time so was not immediately busy upon my return.

My first day back was a lot easier than I expected!!

I was so worried about leaving LO, but our nanny started 2 days before I went back to work and she was so awesome that I wasn't worried about LO.

And everyone at work was so nice when I got back, and I spent most of the day catching up with everyone and showing them pictures of LO.

I went over lunch to visit my baby, but overall I did pretty good. I eased in like you did (short week to start) which was a life saver, because then I had the weekend. I didn't try, but I love our babysitter and she sent me pictures throughout the day of her smiles and sleeping so I knew she was doing okay, that helped a ton.

I'm going back to work on Thursday and I'm already in tears. It's just so overwhelming and I'm dying thinking about leaving the baby all day. I went into school this PM to get a little work done, but my PW wouldn't work and now I have no lesson plans for my first day back. Wahhhh!!

Please tell me your first week back was easier then you anticipated.
