I got it 11 years ago and still have light sensitivity - i always need sun glasses outside and don't like bright lights inside or driving at night because of it. I'm so used to it now i barely notice it and it's so worth it!

I had a lifetime warranty with mine and it will be completely free if i get it again... I think I'm still 20/20 so no need for a while!

@Mrs. Bee: 2 years to need glasses driving at night, 3.5 to need them FT. It's been ten years since surgery and I was only 23 when I had it done which can also beware factor, my eyesight was supposedly stable enough but maybe if I had waited a few years I would have had a better outcome.

@Mrs. Bee: I got it done 2 years ago and so far so good! I used eye drops for slight dryness for a few months after my procedure and I had red/blood spots on the whites of my eyes from the procedure too. It took about 10 days for them to fade away completely.
So so happy I decided to get it done! I would definitely do it if I were you! Life changing!

I had it done several years ago and am so happy with the results! I did have dry eyes and some light halos for the first few months which is very common. My doctor had me use rewetting drops very frequently to help with the dryness and healing process. I had dry eyes before lasik and had trouble with contacts due to the dryness. Now my eyes are completely fine. I would say that I sometimes have a little bit of trouble reading signs while driving at night, but not enough to need driving glasses. The doctor thinks I was overcorrected with my glasses and contacts so even though my vision is pretty much 20/20 now, I am probably used to being overcorrected for distance.

I would say that the recovery took longer than I thought it would - I had my procedure on a Thursday or Friday and definitely wasn't 100% on Monday like I thought I would be - I could definitely see, but my eyes were still pretty tired and scratchy for at least a week so I tried to rest them as much as possible. I would try to plan a quiet week the week after just in case you need extra recovery time like I did.

I get halos at night and my vision isn't 20/20 (slightly regressed after about a year) but I'm fine without glasses. It was definitely a life changing experience and I highly recommend it!

Same as pp's: dry eyes and blurry/halos at night. But I also had these issues prior to lasik due to severe astigmatism! So it wasn't any worse after lasik. Now, 8 years later, I don't use eye drops anymore and night driving is fine.

Had it done 8 years ago and still have perfect vision! I do have to use lubricating drops a couple times a day but I take allergy medicine year-round and dry eyes can be a side effect of that, so I don't think my dry eyes are a result of the lasik. It is glorious. I went to Hawaii about six weeks after and being able to swim in the ocean without messing with contacts was fantastic!

@Autumnmama79: My eyes were -8.5 and -9! But I had very thick corneas so I still qualified as a candidate. It's been almost two years and my eyesight is still 20/20. I also waited until after I was done having kids-- both pregnancies changed my prescription and after having my second (a daughter) I was diagnosed with severe dry eye.

@Autumnmama79: my eyes were quite bad before...-6.5 and 7.25. Within 2 years I needed them for driving and lectures in grad school, and by 3.5 years FT. It is less than 3% of cases where this happens. My clinic offers lifetime touch up surgery but I now live 3 hours away, and also when I tried to set it up 5 years ago my eyes were too dry so they were worried about healing and wouldn't do surgery. After that I decided to wait till we are done with kids to try and aggressively treat dryness and get surgery since hormones from pregnancy can also affect eyesight.

I had dry eyes for a few months- after the first few weeks I would just need an eye drop when I woke up and rarely one or two during the day, but even that faded.

I have slight problems with bright lights at night, but my vision was so bad that I had them already with glasses or contacts.

My vision did regress a little within a year after the surgery, to the point that I prefer glasses for driving, with a very slight prescription- especially at night, though I would still pass an eye exam at the dmv. My plan covers lifetime "adjustments" but it's so minor that I'd rather just wear the glasses for driving. And that's me being in the unlucky 3%. (The likelihood of needing an adjustment is higher if your vision is worse, my contacts were -6.25).

I got lasik because I had chronic dry eye and was contact lens intolerant, and I was on four different kinds of drops a day and was already experiencing blurred vision due to the dryness. So after lasik my dry eye actually got better and the one or two drops a day of regular lubricant eye drops is like nothing to me compared to what I had to go through before!

The only remaining side effect I have is halos at night. I can still drive though, it's just that lights have a halo around them. Kind of like when it's a misty night.

Best thing EVER!!

My only side effect is dry eyes. I only have to put a drop of natural tears in each eye first thing in the morning though and they are fine for the rest of the day.

I had dry eyes pre LASIK though - I could only wear contacts for a few hours before they became unbearable

I know it's not what you asked, but are you able to wear contacts? When I lived in a humid/tropical climate, wearing contacts was so easy/comfortable because of all the moisture in the air. Nothing like in New York, where for the past few weeks my eyes have been so dry it's hard to shove contacts into them! Just throwing it out there as a quick fix to foggy glasses until you can schedule your lasik!

I had it done in 2012. I had temporary dry eye and sensitivity to bright lights/night driving, but I don't think it lasted more than a month? I had also had dry eye before LASIK (due to several years of contacts), so it was very possibly even not related. You're going to love being post-LASIK!

I got it done a few months ago. My eyes are still dry, but I mainly need drops in the morning when I wake up and maybe once or twice a day after that, it's not a big deal for me. My left eye is pretty much perfect and my right is only very slightly off. I'm debating on whether or not to get a touch up on the right eye. My plan includes "free" touch ups the first year.
