Her first illness was RSV which she caught from my nephew. I didn't get it but she was pretty rough for several days. The best thing we had were Nose Freida, saline spray, humidifier and boogie wipes.

DS got a cold right after Thanksgiving, when he was a little over two months old. He and I got it right about the same time, then DH got sick a few days later. I'm sure we caught it over Thanksgiving, probably from my mom but maybe from somebody else (we saw 30+ people). The first week was the worst. He couldn't/wouldn't sleep on his back in the crib. Even when I slept with him in his chair, he wouldn't sleep much longer than an hour at a time. I bought Boogie Wipes, but burp cloths worked just as well at home. Overall, it was bad for about 6 days and took a few more days for the symptoms to disappear. We got a humidifier during the second week, which I think helped.

Yes we only got the aspirator because I told DH to pick one up on his way home, just in case LO got the cold and had symptoms that night or the next morning...but the nosefrida would have been my first choice had it been more widely available...I should order one anyway!

Thanks for the Baby Vicks and saline spray recommendations!

First cold at 7 months and 2nd one now at 8 months. I've gotten sick both times with her. The aspirator is not as good as the nose frida (or similar type device). I'd get Baby Vicks and baby saline spray, too. Her first cold lasted about 5 days and this on day 7.

LO is 3 months old and hasn't gotten one yet. DH and I both just had them but LO hasn't gotten it so far... Please no!! I read that babies generally get 8-10/year but DD doesn't go to daycare so I'm hoping she'll get significantly less!

Please share your LO's first cold (or flu or other!) experience. How old was LO? How (do you think) LO caught it? Were you also sick? How long did it last? We have a humidifier, baby tylenol, a graco aspirator, and a digital thermometer...should we have anything else just in case?
