yesterdays menu was

breakfast: yoghurt and a sliced banana
lunch: a piece of toast and 1.5 peaches
dinner: a tomato and half a ham and cheese quesadilla.

his other standby favourites: scrambled eggs, peas, sliced steamed carrots or pasta. his fave pasta is bolognese... we use minced beef, canned tomatoes, sometimes lentils and herbs. it's so easy to cook i've never tried to freeze it, but i imagine it would freeze and thaw fine!

@fancyfunction: LO loves bread and cheese and for some reason I had not thought about making him grilled cheese yet. I think that might have to be on the menu for dinner this week. For all of us :)

@Periwinkle: check out weelicious for good ideas! we do lots of hummus, homemade refried beans, quinoa cakes as back-ups if he can't eat what we're eating because it's greasy or whatever. LO only has 3 teeth that are low enough to chew but he can handle pretty much any food we've given him. Here's what he ate today, 12m-

breakfast - whole banana, bar of baked cranberry applesauce oatmeal, yogurt

snack- pear slices, cheese hunk

lunch - quarter of a taco burger, slice of wheat bun, thawed blueberries, peas

snack - cheerios

dinner - sweet potato/pinto bean/salsa/cilantro/quinoa scramble, slice of zucchini cheddar bread, quartered grapes

M is almost 12 mo and also only has 2.5 teeth. I freeze a lot of leftovers like chicken and turkey and also like to keep bags of frozen veggies on hand so I can take out as much as I want for her meal. She's good at chewing them if they're cut into small pieces. She really loves grilled cheese and hummus too. Another good idea for freezing is soups and stews. I portioned out bags of frozen stew and she'll also eat pasta fagioli soup, so I like to freeze portions of that as well.

LO is almost 13 months old and I feel like we're in a bit of a food "rut." I am a WOHM and tend to cook on the weekends for the week with minimal preparation on weeknights. I am trying to give LO some extra variety in his diet but it's hard when my time at home is limited.

LO's usual menu looks something like this:

Nurse
B: Oatmeal and applesauce
AM Bottle
L: Veggies or veggie/fruit mix (homemade puree)- our babysitter is vegetarian and we do not bring meat to her home unless it is thoroughly mixed in to a puree
PM Bottle
S: Yogurt or cottage cheese/cheese and whole wheat pita
PM Bottle
D: Generally what we eat (turkey chili, meatloaf, chicken, roasted veggies etc.)
Nurse

Any suggestions for easy to prepare/store/freeze dishes? LO only has 2 little teeth so we are still mashing/pureeing food for the most part or breaking into very small pieces.
