I just dumped the solid poop in the toilet and washed the diapers. I did not swish or use a sprayer. Once in a while we'd get a really nasty one that my husband would take outside to spray off.

I wash every other day. I plop the poop off right away or scrub it with a toilet brush. Then put it in a bag next to the toilet for was the next day.

We have two lidded metal trash bins- one in the nursery for wet diapers, and one in the hall bath since it's closest to the nursery. I change her diaper, put her in her crib/on her playmat and take the poopy diaper to the toilet, dunk it, spray any excess off, and in the pail it goes. No wringing or drying or anything. Diapers get washed every two days so there's not time for mildew or stink to be an issue. It's really simple even though I make it sound like a lot.

@jetsa: its not that she wants to keep the old diaper on. it's just that she doesn't want a new diaper lol. Baby would be a nudist if I allowed it :)

@jetsa: I do put it in ahead of time. But it isn't sticky or anything (at least not the ones I have?) so it isn't like it stays on there very well. And my LO likes to try to roll over and sit up and crawl away and so I'm always struggling to pull her back down and pull the diaper on in awkward positions and the liner keeps shifting and falling out the leg hole of one side while i'm snapping on the other side. I mean.. I'm making it work for this week when I don't have a sprayer. But this would annoy me for every diaper change. Esp since no liner = only have an extra step with poop diapers. But I can't predict when she'll poop so I have to put a liner in at every change if i'm using them. Just not for me :)

I wash every 2 days. We started using a closed diaper pail once the stinky poops started (Diaper Dekor). Daycare wraps each dirty diaper in its own plastic bag. I'll plop very solid poops at home in the toilet immediately if possible, but anything sticky I usually wait and swish/spatula scrape them all at the same time right before starting up the wash. If I do dunk and swish immediately, I definitely don't safety the diaper...it goes right in the pail.

@lady grey: I usually buy Bummis large but i also have used Bumkins! I just really don't want to spray and we have a tiny bathroom, so no room for anything else. I never have a problem with the liners causing us trouble. i make a diaper sandwich and then i set E on it.

I LOVE using the liners, if that's an option for you. I could never get the hang of the sprayer (it was attached to the toilet when we bought the house). I just can't figure out how to use it without spraying poop water everywhere.

I like Grovia liners. We haven't had any bunching or irritation.

@Mae: my son hates having his diaper changed and I've found having the liner in the diaper before changing him made it work for us. The ones I use don't bunch though.

We spray and then put in the cloth diaper can without wringing or anything. We keep ours next to the toilet just because its easier; its just a stainless steel trash can with wetbag in it.

We went out of town last weekend and used bummis bio-soft liners and I tossed them in the trashcan with the wipes I was using and they made it super easy. If I wasn't such a cheapskate, I'd probably get rid of our sprayer ;)

I spray them in the toilet. I don't wring them out. I have a wet bag folded over a small trash can next to the toilet. I leave the pail open. If I spray the diaper well there is no smell. We wash e/o day.

Also FWIW I got liners for this week because I'm traveling and don't have access to a sprayer. I think they are annoying. I have a hard time getting them to lay flat in the diaper and not bunch up. But then again... my LO is 9 mo and trying to diaper her is like trying to handcuff an octopus lately. So one more component is just too much.

@thismustbetheplace: I do the same as @blackbird. We often don't use liners but latley LOs poop has been mushy so its harder to get it to shake off into the toilet. So I need to order more. I've never used a spray thing or rinsed the diapers.

@blackbird: which brand of liners do you use? I used to get Bummis Bio-Soft, but none are on prime shipping right now. And i'd rather not pay for shipping!

This is the exact reason why I'm only using cloth because we have a diaper service. The whole thing goes in the pail and gets sent away weekly :) Working on making the smell not so bad, since poop just changed in the last week.

We kept an extra wet bag in a mini trash can near the toilet, so poopy diapers would get sprayed then put in there. Pee diapers we just put in our regular wet bag near the changing table.

We're over a year now, so her poops are like "normal people poop" and we just dump them in the toilet. Before that, we used a sprayer to get the big chunks (gross) into the toilet. I'd just wring out and put the diapers in the wet bag. (and yeah, I got poop on my hands all the time, but just washed them.) We wash every 2 days. The wet bag does a really good job at keeping the smell in, and we never had an issue.

I swish and/or spray and then throw it in the laundry bag with the rest, without wringing or anything. They might get mildewy or something if we left it too long but we usually only go 4-5 days max between washing a diaper load (LO is 15 mos now). Our diaper pail has a lid so that seems to contain the smell, if there is any, or maybe we all just have blunted sense of smell :)

Liners!
-I take the dirty diaper off and set it on the trash can lid next to us.
-Put a clean one on and set E on the floor.
-Walk to the bathroom next door with poopy diaper.
-Plop the poop in the toilet.
-Walk back to the nursery and give it a spray of Bac-Out -Put it in the bag (just a cloth bag hanging in a metal step can trash can)

I do not swish (unless it's diarrhea and EVERYWHERE) or spray off. I just shove them in the bag and they get washed a day or two later

LO was EBF until 6.5mo but now that he has started solids I'm having to re-evaluate my poopy diaper routine! Before we had just thrown everything in a dry bag in his nursery and washed every 2 days. Now I've added an unsightly 'poopy diaper dunking/drying station' in our small (and only) bathroom that is not ideal. So tell me about your routine: Do you use a wetbag/pail for solid waste diapers? Do you wring out after swishing/spraying off? Do you hang them to air out after rinsing? Help me streamline a better routine!
