I always notice my supply drops when I'm on my period. Once It ends my supply always returned to normal.

@Corduroy: Ugh, it's frustrating when you get a lot less than normal! Usually if I have one session that's like that, the other ones are more normal, so I'm only down a couple ounces at most. I'm not really sure what to do when you're down a lot. :(

@Corduroy: Well I hope you can get as much as possible! The last couple of nights I have pumped twice at night and and once extra in the morning and it gave me a little extra so that I didn't need to dip into my frozen stash. It really stinks though. I was up until midnight last night after pumping at both 10:00 and 11:30.

Have you tried power pumping? On and off every 10- 15 min for an hour. I have gotten a bit extra this way and it should help simulate a growth spurt to help up production

@dojo: I'm already doing a 10pm pump every night just to break even on a good day.

@adira: I got 2oz at each of my two pumping sessions today. I normally get 3oz, 3.5oz, 3.5oz, 2.5oz.

I'm fitting in a 4th session today at the office. I hope I can get all I need.

I don't know how low your supply has dipped, but I think one thing that has helped me keep my supply up is my refusal to dip into my stash (like a crazy person - WTF is a stash for if I never use it???). When I get sick and my supply goes down, I just pump pump pump extra to make up for the slack! So often my whole evening is around nursing and pumping just so I have enough for the next day! But I think it really helps get my supply back up once I'm over a cold!

@Corduroy: like @Adira: just said - I do this too on the weekend and it helps! I also will pump extra at night after LO has gone to bed.

My LO is 8 months too and over the past month or so I have definitely had a dip in supply. I have been able to mostly keep up but have had to use up a lot of freezer stash. He is eating solids 2-3 times a day and I'm still sending the same amount of milk to daycare (19 oz total with the expectation that 15 oz are the norm with about 4 oz as the extra bottle). Lately some days I get enough pumping my normal 3 times and others I fall short.

@Corduroy: This is a crummy option, but I also started pumping after nursing on the weekends to help stimulate my supply and also get some extra milk for the week.

Mine really started to tank around 10 months when she started eating 3 meals of purees a day. i sent the same amount by using my freezer stash. I eventually switched to formula at 11.5 months because it wasn't worth the stress of pumping during my work day to get a measly 3 oz.

Thanks for the input ladies. I'll keep drinking water and eating oatmeal and try to get my supply back up.

My LO's milk intake didn't decrease until she started eating a lot around 10-11 months. I still pumped a lot from 6-9 months.

Xander's also 8 months and has JUST started consistently eating solids at daycare as of last week. I've continued to send the same amount of milk though because he seems to love his milk and still drinks the same amount, even though he's eating solids as well.

Did you keep pumping & sending the same amount of milk once your LO was eating solids? If not, what was the transition like?

I'm a WOHM with an 8 month old LO. She just started really eating purees along with some finger foods.

Pumping was going fine but this week I've had low pump output. There are lots of things going on: I have a cold, we're buying a house in a different city (along with issues finding a new daycare) lots of stress there, and I have AF. Too many factors going on here. I'm wondering how much of an impact I should see from LO starting solids.

I'm sending LO to daycare with 3x 4.5oz bottles & 2x 2oz of puree (7am - 6pm). I'm having trouble keeping up and my freezer stash is ridiculously low. She also nurses 4am, 6:30am, 5:30pm, & 7:30pm. Twice now she's come home with about an ounce of milk left which never used to happen.

Should I expect to pump less?
