I've only had 1 c/s but it was 15 months ago and the scar is still dark pink and has become very raised. You can see the bump from it through very bodycon dresses, so I'm not wearing those anymore!

In the first month or two afterward it was very flat and looked amazing. But it turned into a keloid scar. Not my OB's fault - in fact in early appointments another OB saw me and said "wow, looks like a plastic surgeon did your c-section!". Some folks just get unlucky and make keloid scars. :(

My OB told me that she could cut it out if I do a RCS and we could try to use silicone patches to see if we can avoid a repeat of the keloid next time. But I'm also tempted to try for a VBAC. So we shall see. First have to get pregnant again!

I'm 8 months out from my one and only c/s. It's still a tiny bit raised. Mine is pretty long because the initial slice wasn't wide enough for LO :silly: The area right above the incision was puffy for a good amount of time. I remember thinking that would never go away but it did.

mine was really raised the first time. I had an amazing doctor do my second and without me asking (I didn't know this was a thing!) he was able to remove the scar tissue and repair it. it's now completely flat! you could ask your doctor about it for sure

Mine is a huge raised scar with one end being more raised and bumpy than the other. It also gets itchy sometimes with no real relief when I scratch because I think the nerve endings are messed up. Anyone else experience that?

1st one was perfect, 2nd one got infected a bit and the ends didn't "seal" so my OB had to use silver nitrate and now only one side is a tiny tiny bit raised and the other side is barely noticeable even at 4 mo

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yes, you are basically opened in the same spot and the doctor removes scar tissue and can cut out the old scar.

I've only had 1 cs three years ago and my scar has always been slightly raised and pink. It used to itch and burn at times but since my 2nd pregnancy I hardly notice it. Maybe all the stretching helped break up the scar tissue? If you have a 3rd the doctor can cut out the old scar and/or inject with steroid to shrink it down

I haven't noticed any issues with my scar. I've had 3 csections and will have my fourth December 28. Maybe it depends how your body scars?

@LuLu Mom: Mine was raised after my 1st - I assumed they all looked like that until I got preg with #2 and my OB told me she would "clean it up" after my next c/s.

After my 2nd its smooth  So I guess she did a good job of stitching it up!

I've had two c sections and my scars have sucked both times. Second time is slightly better. They heal like keloid scars - raised, darker, sometimes itch. But I think that is just how my body responds to scars. 7 years ago I had breast augmentation - those scars also kind of became keloids but have now faded tremendously and are pretty much my skin color. So maybe my c section scars will do that eventually? Who knows because now I'm pregnant with #3. I'll try different creams to see if they help. Maybe time will change them?

I've had two C-sections, my experiences have been nothing but positive and if we have a 3rd I would choose to do it again.

However, my only complaint is my scar, it is so raised this time! It's only been 7 months, so maybe it will smooth out with more time, but man it's more noticeable to me. Anyone else notice this after a RCS?
