My first was an uncomplicated vaginal delivery and my 2nd was a scheduled c-section for being breech. With this one I plan to schedule a c-section but go with a vbac if I go into labor early. My main reason is to make sure this baby and my DS2 don’t share a birthday. There are pros and cons to each which is why I don’t feel strongly one way or another.

I had two planned c-sections, both due to breech babies. I was hoping and planning for a VBAC with #2, but it was not to be.

Unplanned c section with my first after pushing for nearly 3 hours. Big baby, didn’t descend, no meds. I was also 2 weeks later and induced. 9.14 baby.

Second baby I really wanted a vbac so I could take care of my first baby and because I wanted more kids. Had an epidural and pushed for nearly 2 hours. I was ecstatic that it worked, but hugely doubted it would during pushing and had a fair bit of anxiety about it during my pregnancy. Baby was 1 pound smaller than number 1 at 8.12. Spontaneous labour 2 days before due date.

Baby 3 was another vbac. Lots of doubt in my pregnancy again about whether it would happen and if I could do it. Went med free and just used a TENS machine. Pushed for 1 hour. Baby was 9.05. Spontaneous labour two days before due date. And my best recovery of all three babies.

No regrets. Very glad I didn’t have more c sections.

If I was going to do it again I’d make sure I didn’t get an epidural, but that’s just because it made it very hard for me to push properly.

Had a failed VBAC but I don’t regret it for a minute. For the second birth I actually was in transition when I got to the hospital but baby didn’t come out after an hour + of pushing. I basically was really freaked out about pushing her out w no meds since the plan had been to get an epidural in case anything went wrong and I need an emergency c-sec. anyway I think if I had been better prepared for that scenario that I would have succeeded with the vbAc. Alas, I got an epidural which I didn’t react well too, ended up with another c section. But I’m so glad I tried, I just wish I had been prepared for the scenario of a drug-free childbirth.

Due in April with #2 and planning a repeat C-section. This will be my last, so I don't have any concerns with too many C-sections or anything like that.

Due in February with #2 but already told my doctor it will be a planned repeat.

ETA: I came to the decision because aside from complications my son was measuring up to 4 weeks ahead on long bone and head diameter. So I was concerned about size too, and since none of my extra problems individually merited a c section, I just scheduled due to size.

Turns out he had a nuchal cord x2, along with the extra fluids, and LGA.

My doctor told me I'm free to try for a VBAC if it's what I really want as long as there is no issues that will make him veto it. He also told me that subsequent babies are usually bigger 🤷🏼‍♀️

So unless I have spontaneous labor before 39 weeks, or she is measuring small, I'm sticking to the planned recurrent c section.

I had a c-section after being induced at 39 weeks because I tripped and fell while walking g the dog. 3 days of labor, I dialated to 9.5 and then got stuck and ended up with a c-section. I’m starting to think about it the second time around and I’m curious what others did and how you made that decision?
