I just followed her lead. We weren't very regimented at first (started at 6.5 months) but now at 8 months she demands food so I give it when she seems to want it. Some days it's once a day, other days it's more than that. It really depends on both our moods, what we have around the house/what we are eating, etc. I say just relax and have fun with it! Don't worry about intake. She will let you know what she wants and when she wants it. There's nothing we hve put off limits other than honey. She will eat anything!!!!!

We started with typical first foods. As she has gotten better at moving food around and swallowing, we have given more variety as we feel comfortable.

We started offering basic foods one at a time around 6 months, he finally started really eating stuff at 7 months, and after a month, he just wanted what was on our plate. By that point, he had worked his way through most foods. I didn't offer egg until 9 months, and after that, anything was game. At 10 months, he loves anything spicy!

ETA: We started offering 2 meals a day at 8 months, and moved to 3 meals at 9 months.

I handed her half a banana the first day of solids. After that avocado slices, roasted chunks of squash, pear slices, boiled egg yolks, shredded chicken, cucumber spears, roasted baby carrots...

At 4.5 months I gave him a few bites of sweet potato puree mixed with breastmilk. A few days later a mashed up avocado, and then a few days after that some banana. I keep it to about a tablespoon each time and progressively less mashed/pureed. I put it on a spoon and offer it, if he wants to grab it I let him, if he seems disinterested we stop. I'm trying to keep it as low key as possible.

I did/do some BLW but also purees. I like that he takes food well from me/whoever given on a spoon, and that he also practices self-feeding. Also since BLW is so damn messy I find that taking pouches for when we go out and need to stay "nice" looking helps. I let him take the lead and we upped to 2 meals a day pretty quickly, since he was taking the same amount of breastmilk (bottles when I'm at work, nursing otherwise). He is nearly 8 months now and we still just do 2 meals a day/weekdays because I found that when I send more, he will just eat food and refuse bottles! At home on weekends, we experiment more and I will give him what's on my plate since he is so very curious. I've found that he has tried more fruits/veggies/flavors with the purees so I know those are "safe" now in BLW form in terms of allergies.

It seems like there are a thousand ways to do this and most are fine.. But just curious how everyone else did it!

Lo is almost 6 mo and we started solids 2 weeks ago. We are doing blw so she has had avocado slices, sweet potato "fries", cooked carrot strips, oatmeal with mashed banana (I loaded the spoon for her and let her feed herself and she did great!), and raw pear slices. So far I've just been offering stuff once in the mornings, but not every day if it's a busy day. I wait 2-3 days between new foods. I am slightly concerned about allergies bc she is mspi and seemed to have an intolerance to the sweet potatoes.

I guess I'm just curious about how long ppl do simple foods and when we start giving parts if their own meals. And when ppl started doing more than 1 meal/day.
