He was pooping ALL.THE.TIME anyway, so the diaper didn't end up staying that wet for long. I personally hated prefolds because the poop kept shooting up the back and out of the diaper. When we did research prior to Lorelei being born, we thought we knew just what we liked and wanted to use. We were wrong. We ended up switching over to another brand entirely, and if I could go back I just would have started with that brand to begin with. Diapers are like so much other stuff-- babies have different body shapes, parents have different likes and dislikes... it's nice to be able to figure out for yourself what works best for you and your child. If I were buying diapers for a newborn today, I'd go with the Kissas NB (size 0, I think) fitteds x 6 for nighttime diapers with about three covers (Peachy Green size 0 covers), and then about 28-32 Peachy Green size 0 diapers for daytime. Lorelei was petite and had small thighs, and we were never able to get one-size diapers to fit her properly-- even now they aren't the greatest. Fortunately we had only bought one or two to try. We found that sized diapers worked best, and never really had any issues with leaks or blowouts. Eventually settled on mostly GMD newborns.
