Except at Reggio instead of a work period it's "choice time". It's still self directed learning but more of a focus on play and imagination, I think. But the routine is all there. Children are taught how to be productive &amp; independent &amp; trusted to make their own choices. It's a much calmer environment compared to regular daycare (play quietly at their desks) but they still make sure they get to run around and play in the gym/playground. I think the biggest thing Montessori has taught her is how to stay focused and increase her attention span. It's a very enriched program - they have music and French classes, guest speakers, yoga, etc. They had two members of the city orchestra come to perform for the kids and talk about music. I know that programs will differ, but they really try to instil a love/curiosity for learning that I appreciate.</p> <p>Sorry for the novel. Add in the winter commute in Maine and that's 2 hours in the car each day.....There's a well regarded Montessori school right down the street from our new home, though. </p> <p>So, tell me why you love Montessori! </p>
