we wash with warm water under the sink, no wash cloth because it rub the rash area. Apply aquaphor liberally and change diapers every 2 hours or when soiled.

We had the same issues until we stopped using wipes (we restarted when he was a bit older). I used damp Viva paper towels and that did the trick. Vaseline, Desitin, aquafor, any of those creams work well as long as you use a lot of it! :) good luck!

@Pepper: yay! I <3 triple paste. I generally only use it if he looks red, and I use aquaphor at all other times. But I think you CAN use it preventatively.

Update: the rash is gone! Triple paste works wonders! Also not using wipes has helped too I think.

Should I keep using the triple paste or only if he gets a rash?

This was us in the beginning, too. HBers recommended Triple Paste, and it worked well for us. But he still got rashy a lot, until he stopped pooping so much. I can't remember when that happened. Maybe around 2 months? We also only use water to wipe and gave him lots of open air time.

We struggled with a persistent yeast rash for 8 weeks, it was HORRIBLE! I actually cried about it a few times. What I think solved it for us was using cloth wipes with water, tons of naked time, used a blow dryer from far away on the cold setting (rec'd by doc), treated with Canesten topical cream (skip this unless its diagnosed by doc that its yeast) and gobbed on Aquaphor healing ointment. So basically like @hilsy85: said!

Now, I've learned that LO is very sensitive. I still only use cloth wipes with water. Coconut oil at every change, if I see something looking a little fishy I use Earth Mama Baby Angel Bottom Balm. Since we CD if something stronger is needed I reach for the Aquaphor and put a liner between. Hope it clears up asap!

LO is a frequent pooper. He's 3 weeks old and he must poop once an hour, no joke. I noticed he has some bright red sores around his little bum hole. The ped said to stop using wipes and to only use wet cloths, and to get diaper cream. We had been using A&D ointment during each diaper change, but I guess it didn't work to prevent :(

Now I try to let him air dry (hard because he loves open air accidents!), and I've been slathering on the Desitin. Any other hints? I feel so bad for him! How long does diaper rash take to clear up?
