@scg00387: when she was on 2 naps she would eat lunch before her second nap, and it remained the same when she was on 1 nap. i didn't nurse her for naps, so that didn't change either. the food/nursing didn't really change too much actually!

@Mrs. Bee: thanks! moving nap back incrementally sounds like a good plan to me -- it's scary to think of TRYING to keep him awake. That is new! I didn't see mention of how/if you changed solids meals and nursing along then??

As soon as DD moved up to the 1-2 year old daycare room where they only have 1 nap, she started refusing to do 2 naps at home. We went directly to a schedule where naptime happened after lunch -- anytime between noon and 1 PM. She usually naps 60-90 minutes on her nap at daycare. On the weekends she'll do 90 mins up to 3 hours. (She's pretty wiped out by the time the weekend comes around). Bedtime didn't change at all -- it's 7:30 PM after a 7 PM bath, and she usually wakes up between 7 and 8 AM.

6:30-7am wakeup
12-12:30 nap (1.5-2 hrs)
7pm sleep (bedtime routine starts at 6:30)

It took a couple of tries to successfully transition to one nap but we decided to rip the bandaid off and consistently schedule for 1 nap. I tried to keep her busy in the mornings by going to music class or the playground (vs boring stuff for her like errands or playing at home) and after about a week we had a once a day napper!

bump! LO is forcing my hand so I'm going to try one nap (on purpose instead of by accident when he refuses the second one) tomorrow.

ETA I'm interested in nursing/meals and how they work around nap!

Monday-Friday (when she's at daycare):
Wake up: 6:45am
Nap: 12:45-2:45pm
Bedtime: 6:30pm

Weekends (when we're at home)
Wake up: 6:45am
Nap: 11am-1pm
Bedtime: 6:15pm (ish)

When DD was 18 months, she moved into the toddler room at daycare and there they have a set one-nap schedule. Prior to the toddler room (when she was in the infant room) they napped her whenever she seemed tired, which resulted in two not-so-good naps.

6am (or earlier) wake-up.
9am-10am is our struggle time. We have to be doing something or she will get super tired and cranky. If we pull through...
11:30 or 12 nap
2:30-3pm wake-up
6:30pm bedtime

Daycare helped us but it was REALLY hard on the weekends. We struggled for a while to get her off the morning nap. We found we cannot put her in the stroller or the car anytime from 8:30-10 or she will fall asleep and take a morning stroller nap. The only thing we can do is early strolls/rides and then keep her active to get rid of that early nap.

I am thinking our LO might be headed to a one nap schedule day. What time and how long is your nap? When is bedtime and wake up time? How did you make the transition from two to one?
