I told my boss after everything checked out at our 8 week ultrasound. I'd already been to the doctor a couple of times and have a longer appointment coming up soon, so I know it would get suspicious if I didn't tell. He was really happy for me. I'm lucky to have a pretty family friendly job, and everyone else that I work with has kids already.

I scheduled a meeting with my old boss and told her at 12 weeks last time.

I have the NT scan next tuesday at 12 weeks and will be telling my boss after the appt. I'll probably just tell her at her desk more than scheduling a meeting this time. We're friends too so I don't want to make it a formal meeting. I'll tell HR the same day.

I scheduled a meeting with him at 12 weeks because I needed to tell my work so I was no longer put in "high risk" situations. My boss was AMAZING - he was/is so excited for me and couldn't be more awesome.

With my first, I told my principal and dept chair at 13 weeks. A week or two earlier at a faculty meeting, my principal had said, "Thank God no one is pregnant!" That made it awkward haha.

This time, I am 10 weeks and I still haven't spilled the beans. Trying to wait until 12/13 weeks.

I told my boss pretty early at 8 weeks, but he already knew we were going through fertility treatments (I needed time off for appointments) so he was very happy for us. He actually high fived me and that was kind of awkward. Plus I had horrible morning sickness and we were getting into our busy time so he needed to know why it was taking me so long to get things done.

I told my boss pretty early, around 9 weeks. I had to go for a few appointments in a week, and it was the 2nd week of school (I'm a high school teacher). I didn't want him to think I was really flakey, leaving for a couple days so soon into the school year, so I told him I was pregnant and had some issues I need to resolve. He has 3 kids himself and was really excited for me and really supportive. I told my co-workers at 12 weeks.

Ugh I was going to tell my boss very soon and a co-worker just told me that she booked a vacation with her coming back one day after my due date. Ugh, I don't want my boss to try and make my co-worker cancel. Co-worker doesn't know I'm PG. Boss has approved co-workers vacay and I think co-worker is booking the trip tonight. Due dates are somewhat random but at 41 almost 42 I don't think they will let me go over.

Just before 8 weeks. We're in a really small office, and it was getting hard explaining why I was sick week after week. My job also involves vulnerable young children and families, so my boss would absolutely understand if something happened, and the whole office would be supportive. My boss actually cried a little, she was so excited.

I told my boss at 7 weeks because I needed to get coverage for some of my duties. I really should have told earlier than that since I had to preform those duties at 5 weeks but I wasn't ready to tell. This is my second pregnancy under this boss so I wasn't as nervous. He eeked out "Congratulations." I wasn't expecting much since he doesn't have kids and has been very vocal that he is not interested in family lives at all.

Then, just a few weeks ago my boss mentioned he and his wife had two ectopic pregnancies and a failed round of IVF. My guess is that this was 10+ years ago but I'm sure it's not something you get over. You really never know what someone is thinking.

I told my boss at like 7 weeks with my oldest. I hadn't even told my parents at that point! I wanted her to know early because I had a very physical job with heavy lifting and potentially hazardous materials, and there was some stuff I couldn't do any more. She was very happy for me!

If you were announcing a second pregnancy, did you tell sooner or later? I'm more nervous this time, because now I know just how much it's going to affect my work for the first year. I wish I had some plan to do better this time, but I haven't come up with one yet.

Around 7 weeks. I didn't want to tell that early but I had a bunch of appointments from the get-go and my old job used to be horrible about doctor's appointments/leaving early. Like if we were short-staffed they'd try to get you to cancel them, guilt you into staying late, etc. I didn't want the stress and just spilled the beans.
The sales manager hugged me! He was such a hard ass I definitely did not expect that!

I told mine after my 12 week appointment. We had gotten a good health report and I felt like my belly was starting to pop so it seemed like a good time to tell. I had a coworker who got called out for being pregnant by our well meaning but gossipy receptionist at 7 weeks with her second baby so I'm not sure if I can make to 12 weeks next time!

I had the same conversation twice, once with my manager and once with my company's co-CEOs. In both cases, I said I had some news and they said, "I hope you're not leaving." I said, "Only temporarily." They caught on immediately and were very nice about it and happy for me.

My manager has a toddler and another baby on the way, and his wife works. The CEOs each have three kids, though their wives are SAHMs. They were all very understanding about the whole thing.

I had to tell my boss on the fly last time, because he scheduled a meeting with me and proposed I head up a new literacy program over the summer--so I had to tell him right then that I would be having a baby over the summer instead. He was super nice about it, and really really nice about it my whole pregnancy (letting me leave early for appointments without docking time, etc).

Buuuutttt.....now I have a new boss and he's much more of a rule follower, so I know he won't be letting me leave early without docking time and I'm generally nervous about telling him. =/

I haven't told him yet this time, although I'm sure he's figured it out. I'm worried since one of the other girls in my department is due 3 months before me, she will return to work from maternity leave the week I leave for mine...that's 6 months with a 2 person departments instead of a 3...he's probably not going to be thrilled.

@loki: Yes and no. You can't terminate someone for being pregnant, but there would be nothing stopping him from doing for another reason. As long as there is the appropriate payout, they do whatever they want. Not that I agree with it at all, people like him are the main reason I'm in HR!
