Like grandparents, adult friends etc. We get him prepared and try to teach him about time. Obviously we've been telling him that the baby is coming out after Christmas and try to teach him time in ways that don't cause melt downs. But we learned that when we tell him that kids are coming over in a few days or even a few hours, he obsesses until then and throws tantrums when he cant demand that they come right now. It isn't worth it. Yesterday, his teacher told them that today they would have icecream and he spent all afternoon and evening yesterday crying about wanting icecream. I didn't always used to. But he's learning the days of the week, how many days it takes to get to X, the concept of time, etc. I love seeing him super excited about things!
