Right! That's it!! I'm definitely not temping during the TWW now! I did my last-of-three-days temperature this morning, to check O had happened, at it had come down. Not quite low as it was before O but only 0.1C higher and the point is I've been in a bad mood about it all day.....

Thanks for the input, everyone.

I temped this morning and will again tomorrow to confirm O, I think I might stop then. I sat there this morning, peering down my nose, literally begging the temp on the thermometer to go up... and seeing it high made my happy all day. I just don't think I can handle two weeks of of basing my mood on what my waking temperature is!! The TWW is hard enough!! 2DPO and it's all I can think about!!!

The only reason I keep temping is to remain in the habit of doing it. Plus, I get a temp drop before AF, so I like the warning. But if you've O'd (and it's confirmed by three days of high temps), there's no reason why you can't stop.

I keep going just to make sure I know when I O (it can be anywhere from day of to 2 days after your positive OPK), and then continue just to understand my cycle patterns. Temping won't change whether or not you're pregnant, though :)

I think you need to keep temping to confirm O-- it could just be a random high temp if it was only 1, if I'm reading your post correctly. I usually temp all the way through anyway, mostly to just not get out of the habit, I guess, but if I'll be away and it will be annoying, I don't always. I also don't get a drop right before my period starts like most people do, so that doesn't help me. Still, especially on your first one, I would chart all the way through the cycle. I think in TCOYF she recommended doing it all the way through for at least 3 cycles before taking short cuts, but that might have been for trying to avoid, actually.
@Adira: Actually, the only time I don't temp is during AF. Since I temp through the TWW, I get the first one, but since the go up and down a lot during those days anyway, I don't bother.

It might not be a bad idea just so you can establish a pattern of luteal phase length. *If* there are any issues, that can be instructive. I temped through the TWW until I got a BFP -- then I flat out stopped :) But like others said, if it's going to drive you absolutely batty, then you sanity comes first!

If you're using a program like Fertility Friend, you may want to continue temping at least until FF gives you your ovulation cross-hairs. This will allow FF to better predict future ovulations for you.

Also, if this is your first month off birth control, you might want to temp just to get a better idea of what your cycle looks like. I know seeing that temp drop and knowing AF was hours away was helpful to me, but can be devastating to some.

Another reason to temp is so that you get your CD1 temps (although hopefully you'll get a BFP instead!). If you skip temping for the TWW and then AF shows up in the middle of the day, you will have missed the temps for that day. Although that probably isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

If you know temping will make you crazy, skip it! :)

I'd temp for at least three more days to confirm ovulation. I found it somewhat comforting during my BFN cycles to know that AF was on her way with the temp drop at the end of the TWW.

I always temp’d through the TWW but, honestly, I think it would’ve saved me the stress if I hadn’t! I personally feel like temping is most important to confirm O and after that it can really be hit or miss. So I encourage giving up the temping stress during the TWW! It’s really easy to read into little shifts that, in reality, don’t necessarily mean a positive/negative outcome.

So, All-Knowing-Hive,

I'm 1DPO into my first ever TWW!!! I had my +LH surge and a big temp jump this morning.....

..... Can I give up temping for 2 weeks??

I'm just scared that I'll be obsessing over the next few days and, should my temp drop a little on morning, it'll ruin my entire day.

I'm planning to just carry on as normal, a glass of wine, maybe (although no caffiene), of an evening, that kind of thing and try to forget we're even TTC until AF is due.

What do you think? Is there any reason I need to temp? Will I regret not having a finished chart for any reason??

Thank you
