Thank you all! I started temping this morning, since I was still spotting yesterday, I'm hoping that I'm on the right track :)

Oh I forgot to mention that some women don't temp
while on their period, so it is okay that you start after. The temps during a period don't really tell you much. But most women temp through a period to be consistent and to keep the routine going. So since you're just starting, no worries that you didn't start on CD1.

Start right away, and be consistent. Get at least 3 hours of sleep before you temp, keep the thermometer by the bed so you don't have to get up, and temp at the same time each day. Since you know how long your period was, I'd enter those days without temps, and start keeping track of temps. Fertilityfriend is a great resource, and they offer free charting software which is useful for double checking paper charts.

Start as soon as you can, it's not too late. If this is your first cycle trying, good luck!! Have you read Fertility Friend's course on charting? It's very helpful

So I unexpectedly started my period on Thanksgiving Day (first period after coming off BC, 38 day cycle)... and haven't had a chance to start temping. Can I start tomorrow? I just ended my period. Will I still be able to see a pattern? Or will be erratic until my cycles regulate to a consistent # of days?
