I seriously feel SO dumb... I can't believe I did this. Wow. Well, that makes me feel a little better. I am not losing sleep over it since my first cycle off BCP, I'm sure it will work out. Thanks for the reassurance!

@MrsADS: That's it! I bet that's why your temps are messed up! So glad you figured it out - hope the change helps!

Ah, that might be way your chart looks strange!

Also, like PPs said, since this is your first cycle off BCP, it may be a little wonky!

OMG you guys. I am such an idiot. I have been taking my temp UNDER MY ARM.... I'm supposed to do it orally or vaginally?!?! Agggh. I feel so dumb. Yes, I'm using a basal thermometer.

I swear, I have a graduate degree. Obviously not in this area. LOL. This may be why my chart is messed up. Sigh...

As long as you're temping consistently (sounds like you're doing it right), external temperature shouldn't affect much.

Since its your first cycle off BCP, I wouldn't be surprised if your cycles are odd for awhile. It took several cycles for me to regulate post BC. It sounds like you're doing everything right - might just take awhile to regulate/see a pattern!

@MrsADS: Are you using a basal thermometer or just a regular one?

How long have you been temping?

When looking a just a few temps, they can seem very all over the place. It usually takes two weeks or so for me to see a pattern in the bigger picture

I don't think outside temperature or body temperature matters that much. But I have heard that mouth breathing can have an effect.

Sounds like the correct way of temping. I never worried about if I was hot when I woke up or if I needed to go to the bathroom. It might take a few cycles for you to see the pattern.

@MrsADS: I don't think outside factors affect your internal body temp that much.. I vary from feeling cold to hot when I temped, it's normal to have them kind of wacky. Your cycle may also be long since you just got off BFP. I would call up your OBGYN if it goes on for longer and no AF still.

Do you have a link to your chart?

This is my first cycle off BCP and I decide about halfway through to buy a thermometer to start recording my temp. I check it as soon as my alarm goes off, without getting out of bed or anything, and then put it in the app I'm using.

My question is, sometimes I wake up and I'm kind of hot from being under the covers. Is that going to affect my body temp? Do I need to be a comfortable, neutral temperature before I get a correct temp? Also, I usually have to pee really bad but I temp first. Is that the right thing to do?

I'm asking because my cycle seems kind of messed up (today is CD 35, no period, not pg). And my temp chart is just all over the place. Just a bunch of jagged ups and downs. It doesn't look like any examples I've seen. So I'm wondering if maybe I'm doing the temping wrong.

Thanks!
