@caffeinated: @Ree723: @MungBean: Thanks for all your help! It does sound like a clogged duct b/c it is hard and tender to the touch and pink on top of it. This is my second child and I've never had one until now. I don't see a milk blister but will look out for it for sure. Glad you were all able to work yours out and not get mastitis.

@caffeinated: Getting all 4s will be interesting but I will try anything to not get mastitis!

@caffeinated: Is that what it's called!? Lol, I had no idea! I always just assumed it was a blocked duct! Regardless, yes, that relief is amazing - next time, I won't suffer all day waiting for my DH to get home, I'll be attacking that thing myself!

Could be a clogged duct. I had one last week and it was so painful :( I did LOTS of warm compresses, soaked the affected breast in hot water, took long hot showers, nursed on that breast as much as possible, and pumped to really empty it. Try massaging it as you're pumping/nursing as well. Good luck!

It sounds like it might be a clogged duct - I just had my first one a few weeks ago and it was awful! Ok, maybe TMI, but look closely at your nipple to see if you can see something that looks like a whitehead - that might be the milk clogging your duct. I had tried massaging, having my husband massage, using warm compresses, and nonstop feeding/pumping on that side, but nothing worked until I actually looked for the bit of clogged milk. I ended up taking a sterilised needle and 'popping' that bit, once I did, the milk flowed out and it all resolved itself without turning into mastitis. It was a bit scary as I wasn't 100% certain that what I was looking at was actually the clogged milk duct, but I didn't see anything else like it anywhere else on that side or the other side, so I figured it must be it. The relief I got from draining it was instantaneous, so hopefully it works for you as well! Good luck!

Do you feel a hard lump? It sounds like a clogged duct. I know it sounds weird, but the next time you feed your LO, try going on all 4s and massaging the area that's hard/lumpy and let gravity do its thing! Also, hot compresses before feeding him should help too. It will be tender for a day or two, but hopefully go away.

I wonder if I have a clogged duct? Or worse, mastitis? I just noticed that the top of my left breast is pink and feels tender to the touch. It must be from not waking up to feed my LO in the middle of the night until 6:30am. That's a whopping 8 hour 50 minutes since the last time he ate. I usually wake between 4 and 5am to feed him no matter what. I already tried to nurse him there twice and massage it out but it still feel tender and looks pink. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
